Putin's statement did what Russia hoped though, stringing along westerm governments into thinking that peace with Russia is possible and not doing what is necessary for a short while. Even the German government started thinking that peace is possible - though fortunately this didn't last long...

Sums up the sheer arrogance and level of delusion of the nonce **** that he thinks he can suggest some old **** that he’s plainly given loads of backhanders to as a mediator and no one will notice or object.

Funny how people suddenly want to negotiate when they know they are starting to lose.
From the economy to the battlefield. Even Putin knows the writing is on the wall.
Zelenskyy says he thinks Putin really wants to talk now.

I've no doubt he will still be a prick and demand impossible terms. But the very fact he says the end of the war is nearing is a significant thing on its own.

The French have the M51 (sub launched) and ASMPA (plane launched)
The UK has Trident (Sub launched) and will soon have air launched capability from the ground based F35-a's.
More than enough to flatten every major conurbation in Russia.
If he wants to be MAD - then that's up to him.

I guess if he wants mutually assured destruction then fine.
