Referees' Performances | 2025/26

That is the only upside, prefer Spurs to drop but Co-chairpeople Sullivan and Gold can now take a haircut in that atrocious tent.
Gold and his daughter are both dead.
The bloke who owns Royal Mail is now holding a big share.

This season pigmol have empowered arses most potent tactics(holding/blocking at corners/set peices) whilst protecting them from the same tactics when used by opponents.

This alone has been enough to ensure that new name on the pl trophy.

Now its job done they will announce "new directives" to stop this next season.

Where I suspect they will turn their attention to "favouring" a different red shirted club.

This is why nearly every rule comes with manipulable ambiguity, so they can control games.

Var has made this a lot easier to implement, and tv companies spinning things for them helps to protect them.
The one positive to come out of this, if arsenal win the title it will be forever tainted, due to collusion between the premier league and pgmol to orchestrate awarding them the title ,
Maybe next year all opposing fans can treat them to the you know what you are song !

Has anyone ever explained why those in the stadium and viewing at home are not able to hear what the var/refs are saying when making a decision? This happens in every other sport I can think of such as cricket, Rugby league and rugby union etc.

The fact that the decision has handed the Goons the title will mean they will be derided and every football fan will recognise they are the worst football team to ever finish top of premier division , dead balls , long throws , own goals a team mainly of of 6ft 3inch giants , physical specimens who remind me of Wimbledon , full of aggression and very little technique , what has this game come to when a team led by hyper active speed freak bouncing up and down the touchline for 90 minutes , who has spent a billion and come up with this shite ,it really is comical.
Thank f*ck i dont have to watch the dross Legohead serves up every week , anti-football is alive and well , the Goons will not be bothered one iota , their desperate 22 year wait will be over and their arrogance will be nauseating , we can only hope PSG absolutely hammer them in the final , although we know how this game will turn out , the Goons and Legohead in full Wimbledon mode , hoping to scrape a 0-0 and penalties.
The season 25/26 will be remembered for going back 25 years to Vinnie Jones , Justin Fashanu and Dave Bassett reborn as Goon F.C., the only optimism is next season cannot possibly be as poor , because we are only one or two players short of absolutely running away with the league next season , and 95pts being the true indication of Champions , not 85pts and a reliance on a VAR decision to get them over the line.

The excuse was even wrong. Going away from goal so not denying a goalscoring opportunity. If he doesn’t touch it the ball bounces straight through the middle of the goal for erl to tap in. That was horrendous cheating. Cost us the cup. We need to shout about it more because low and behold in our next cup final a keeper charges out of his box and rugby tackles jezza and doesn’t get sent off either!

Agree but as we see referees and PGMOl ar untouchable they can do what ever they want! Next for a league title will be the scum in a couple of years time!

Referees have made sure corners are now a massive problem due to inertia.
It has also provided some referees with a perfect grey area.
PIGMOL don’t want clarity, they need the obfuscation.
Time to sanitise corners. Zero tolerance required on any holding. VAR might actually be competent in that area.
All it needs is a booking & penalty for any defender holding in the area, it would soon put a stop to it but it won’t happen as the ref/VAR need these contentious incidents…….to manipulate games

The pgmol could have nipped this in the bud at the start of the season by giving penalties and red cards for deliberate holding and stopping of goalscoring opportunities. They could have also started disallowing goals from set plays where keepers are impeded they didn't do either. They have really fecked up I'm certain they will make changes in the summer to try and make things better and fairer but the damage is done. And it's not just yesterday's decision this has been talked about all season and nothing has been done.
For the millionth time. Howard Webb said they were clamping down on it under the new rules to be implemented at the start of this season. They obviously had no intention of doing it. Howard Webb is a fraud and a liar.

The International Football Association Board (Ifab) believes fans should be informed of decisions, but not hear them being made live.

"I categorically say no, they shouldn't," Ifab secretary and chief executive Lukas Brud told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast's Rick Edwards.

"I was allowed to observe and see communication between match officials during a review and it is quite a chaotic situation, not in a negative sense but there's many people talking at the same time and I think it would be counterproductive for anyone to listen to all those voices talking to each other."

"Then you have the VAR and the assistant VAR, the replay operators, the referee and maybe even the assistant referees and fourth official, so all of a sudden it becomes quite a chaotic experience. We have given the green light to test the announcement of decisions to bring a little more transparency to decision making, but we are not prepared at this point to open up communication live to the audience."

There have also been calls for football to follow other sports such as rugby and cricket in how they communicate on field decisions to fans, but Brud feels direct comparisons are unrealistic.

"They are different sports with different set ups," he added. "We cannot compare by simply saying it is the same. In football, processes are slightly different.

"Football is different because everyone is putting a magnifying glass on every decision and every single word would then be analysed in the media and it would create a very unsafe environment for referees."

Just watched the West Ham goal again
Apparently the foul on the keeper come before the two fouls from Declan rice
Fine
What about trossard holding the West Ham #19 player back, who then has to put his arm accords the goal keeper.
That is obviously before the keeper is fouled by the #19
Completely ignored because they have found the still of the fouls they wanted to find
Four instances of a holding offence/penalties there… and the ball appears to be in play

Because most people in the UK are watching on Sky Sports (yes I know people stream).
Sky don’t even show all the games. PLP do around the world. Surely it’d be easier to always have them telling VAR what to do, rather than Neville one week and Andy Hinchcliffe the next.

Probably mentioned here, but an ex ref; Dunne I think, has suggested no players apart from keeper in 6 yard box b4 corner is taken, someone on here said imagine sorting out the collisions and fouls when everyone charges in……what’s next?, get rid of corners altogether and give a throw in near the corner flag instead?
Arsenal will win the league this season and we are hearing ex refs suggesting rule changes to the game that has been played for well over 100 years…
But you don't need to sort anything out. You simply give the award for the FIRST foul. Everything that happens after that is (or should be) irrelevant because the game stops at the point the whistle blows. If there's so much going on that the ref can't determine when the first foul took place then use VAR.

This is what I find the most frustrating, there are 7 or 8 potential fouls yet they chose to pick one out in the middle of the melee. How and why do they select that particular foul? There are no rules that state a foul on a keeper gets priority over every other foul, ESPECIALLY if that other foul (or fouls) happens before it.

It's not that difficult to sort this fairly, just give the decision for the first foul, whether it's a push, a shirt grab or a bear hug.
