I’d also like to know what is the desperation of certain posters who are happy to defend the stupid 10 game rule, even if it means genuine fans being frozen out.

The ten game rule is to stop people touting tickets and in all honesty I'd expect an ST holder to make ten games a season. However, while that rule might have made sense when games weren't moved all over the weekend it's a complete and utter nonsense in current times (in fact for the past thirty years) especially with games like tonight when the date was confirmed so late.
The club should also have a duty to accept all medical conditions, caring responsibilities and shift or overseas work as permissable reasons for non-attendance.

Everyone's circumstances are different I've had a season ticket for a number of years and as a self employed person I could pick and choose when I went to work and started and finished work, I'd go to midweek games no problem (Btw I'm almost five hrs drive away from The Etihad). Two years ago I reverted to being and employed person, making going to all games very difficult, getting home at 3am for a 6-30am start takes its toll. Thus, I dropped out of the Champions League scheme and league cup. This season I've managed twenty games inc. Wembley,& I'm beginning to think that this next season could be my.last (I'm 63 soon), and it's a difficult decision. in contrast a lad who lives down here has been a season ticket holder for as many year as myself,on every cup scheme and is a platinum member (so to max his points) who this season has managed three home games (Inc the FA cup against Liverpool), and in years gone by (at least eight yrs) he's sold all of his tickets on to family & friends, The club , or to just about anyone who wants to go! and often it's at full price Inc . his platinum premium. He's maxed his points to get ahead in the queue for Finals tickets and there's been nothing the Club or anyone else can do. I'm watching closely to see if his season card gets removed.personally It's this kind of season ticket holder that needs investigating

No other club in the Premier League has a minimum “in person” attendance policy as far as I know.

If they want to stop the touts then don’t bring in measures that 1) Screw some genuine fans over and 2) Don’t necessarily stop the touts anyway

It was just an honest question - I actually think the rags have a similar policy & they also charge for an exchange but it’s only something I was told by an angry rag who might not be able to renew.
I’m sure I’d read somewhere that other clubs were having to take similar action because the so called “tourist” fans were actually buying people’s ST seats on line via private sales each week and the ST holders were abusing the system to make money.
I just wondered if anyone knew if any of this is true.

I think this is the kind of information I’ve read & it’s happening at most PL clubs. Sometimes being used as a nice moneymaker by some ST holders. But I’m not sure how serious or widespread it’s become.

If only it was 19 random days, when the fixtures come out, you have no idea how many random days it will be, it can be any of 4 days in anyone weekend, and that's before you factor in how far you progress in cups.

Luckily I'm retired now, but it's still a logistics nightmare even when you don't work, if you live 3+ hours away. I used to mostly drive the journey, but that really doesn't interest me much these days, and the trains are fucking expensive.

You’re right, the FA made a big play about there only being a few limited midweek match days to help fans who find it easier to make weekends.

But, for the authorities and telly people the “weekend” starts at 7pm on Friday and finishes 10pm on Monday.

Ironically, for us living 200+ miles away, we’re more likely to make the less popular games as they’re the ones still played on Saturday afternoon.

At least there are more travel options then. Sunday is a complete write off for trains pretty much.

My son occasionally gets invited into a box, but it's always at the last minute.
And when I say last minute, I mean 5pm for 8'oclock kick off.
Maybe Friday night before a 3pm.

So the club offered you a way of getting your seat for as many or as few games as you wanted or were able to make, you didn’t take them up on it and that the clubs fault?

The club doesn't give a feck about me, and they don't give a feck about you. If they were bothered about any of the fans currently struggling to attend then why not flip this theory and ask them to let us have a ticket for the big 5 and they can keep the other 14 games themselves. Surely, if they were truly bothered about match attendance then that fits their logic as they can resell 14 extra tickets themselves. Remember all 19 of the games for 24/25 were used, so their pathetic little argument about usage is bollocks.

The reality is that they don't want any fan having automatic entitlement to games that they believe they can sell at inflated prices. Let me tell you a story from ten years ago! It's Sunday 20th March 2016. At that time I had 2 seasoncards in SS3 and that day we played United. My wife couldn't attend so her ticket was listed on the ticket exchange 2 weeks in advance. I never saw the seat appear, so assumed it had been sold instantly. On the day of the match, a fella appeared next to me, and I said that he must have been quick to buy my ticket, to which he replied he had bought corporate! On further questioning he told me he had paid £200 for my wife's seat, a programme, and a pie and pint in the CFA. That was back in 2016 in SS3, and even then, rather than release my wife's seat to a local fan, they sold it on an 9 times what they repaid my wife. They were then, and are even worse now, a bunch of money grabbing feckers who have stolen this club from its core fan base so it can be whored globally to those who can pay the best price. I for one will never attend another Manchester City game in person and once the facial recognition kicks in there will be thousands who will also find they are now persona non grata.

You make 63 sound old. I don’t get this from City. Struggling to fill seats. So why penalise fans who can’t attend the allotted amount if they’re willing to sell back to the club. And be a betting man it’s those seats they sell first

Not true. Gave mine up this season. Mates tried to move to them but club refused. Now sold as a pair for each game.

A season is a long time and sometimes life happens, sometimes one of your parents has a fall in October and you are suddenly a full time carer etc. I feel the issue is people in this situation aren't getting through to anybody at the club with the power to make a common sense compassionate decision case by case.

Wahtever measures other clubs are taking with regards touting doesn't involve asking ST holders to attend a minimum number of games themselves so no, the Rags don't have a similar policy. And I only said as far as I know because I don't know whether any other clubs are doing it for next season.

Once you or your wife give up your match ticket because you cannot attend, City can do what they want with it, i cannot think why this would bother you ?

Because circumstances change. Just because someone didn’t make it to ten games this season it doesn’t mean they won’t make it to all 19 next season (only they won’t because they have lost their season ticket)

The season ticket no shows are such a problem the club had to do something.

The next problem is that whatever the club come up with some genuine fans will unfairly suffer. I don’t have the answer but I know it’s a huge problem for City not replicated at any other club to the same extent.

Ah ok. Thanks. It will be interesting to see what all top PL clubs do about the problem. There must be something happening at other grounds because obviously the issue preventing people from attending matches affect all fans yet there are no real problems with empty seats everywhere so ST holders must be either transferring their tickets or re-selling them.
I don’t go on other fans forums but if anyone does, do they have issues with “tourists” buying up tickets or is it just us??
