Eurovision 2026

Here comes the annual migration of people to tell you how much they don't like Eurovision - be sure to let them know how funny and original their remarks are. It definitely has not been exactly the same for the last 16 years I've read the Eurovision threads on here.

Anyway...

I've watched it since Lordi won it for Finland hoping a similar rock anthem might arise. We've had some pretty heavy tracks and rock/metal numbers but the support for them has dropped a lot in recent years. I think Serbia are basically the only rock act this year (arguably Romania) which is a shame. Metal in particular has gotten a rough hand because two metal songs finished last in successive years - Germany in 2023 and Norway in 2024. Neither of them deserved to come anywhere near last, I still listen to Gate, it's a banger.

The Italy winner from a few years back was a rock song wasn't it?

What do you think of our entry? It’s ridiculously poor and I don’t know why with all the musical talent in this country we dish up this sort of shite

As the UK entry comes from Ramsgate, there us a big street party on Harbour Parade. Big screen etc. Thankfully im travelling back from holiday so wont be involved in the road closures or marshaling lol

Our entry looks like a poor Howard Jones.

It was yes, the drop off in heavier rock and metal music has only really been a thing in the last 2-3 years. Even just five years ago when Italy won there was a lot more of it, it seems to have happened quite quickly.

You could always rely on there being a few folk songs, 4-5 rock tracks, 4-5 things that were completely unhinged and 4-5 beautiful women soloing mediocre dance tracks.

Feels like we get too many arty ballads these days and I find them incredibly dull.

In one way I’m glad they have at least tried to go for something that stands out a bit instead of the incredibly bland stuff we normally churn out… but the problem this time is the song isn’t good or catchy at all. If you’re going to go for the weird stuff the song has to be catchy (see Greece’s entry or Estonia’s last year). I can see another 0 in our future.

Have always been a big Eurovision fan, and i'll be watching it later on, but I didn't see either semi final and the only song I've heard is ours, which is absolutely dreadful, so it's probably fair to say that i'm not expecting much.

After a great Manchester City FA Cup win, time to watch a few hours of trash TV at it's best!

Where's the Bailey's...

Well...the UK's act certainly ticks the 'bat-shit' requirements for an entry...
