3 | Ruben Dias - 2025/26

I do wonder if we might move him on in the summer

Wouldn't make any sense with Bernardo and Stones leaving, maybe Ake as well, and Rodri in his last year (if he doesn't sign a new contract soon). Dias signed a new contract recently.

Many underestimate Dias's influence on the team. There are no fools at the club, though.

If Pep leaves, Dias might think about other options. That's a different scenario. Barcelona will be happy to have him. But we will be reluctant to sell. So, he stays for another season.

We’ll see. I bet Madrid would have him too.

It’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.

I think it's obvious that Dias will stay next season even if he fancies the chance to move to Real or Barcelona. He's the most likely captain after Bernardo. The fact he hasn't played after his last injury means only that he isn't ready, not that he's 3rd choice. He will start many games next season, even if some fans are unhappy that their favourite defender is on the bench.

Spanish clubs wouldn't pay the money we'd want this summer. Losing his experience and leadership would make the task of Pep (who rates Dias highly) or the next manager more difficult.

He is more likely to leave in 2027 (if he wants to).

At present, he doesn't get in the team ahead of MG or Khus

That's trivial or nonsensical. Dias has been recovering from injuries. He hasn’t been fit enough to get minutes let alone starts. Shame because he hasn't made bad mistakes in a run-in. Could do with him at Everton.

Nobody knows whether he will be a firm starter next season, not even Pep or Viana or next manager. He's likely to be a main CB because he's likely to be captain.

I doubt he’s first choice so he won’t be captain, he’s too slow, Khus and Ghuei with Guardiol at left back pushing Oreilly into midfield. This season has shown you need speed if he plays where does Khusanov go, he’s not to good at right back.

I doubt Pep/next manager sees Dias that way. Dias is the only CB under Pep who has been a firm starter. And he was a firm starter before his injury in March.

So you pick him over Khusanov? Like I said unless he plays right back we have zero speed at the back, he had to start to enable us to play the high press just like when we had Walker. Since Diaz has been out I have zero worries about any striker out pacing our back four. Diaz plays RCB Kush the same o know who is rather have.

I don't understand why we're looking for a way out for one of our best defenders.

Some people still don't seem to grasp that we have almost 70 matches per season with the new Champions League format.

We need four established, top-level center-backs to compete in all four competitions. We'll need Dias, Gvardiol, Guehi, Khusanov, and Reis this will be his first season at the highest level with our ambitions, and it will be a learning year for him at his young age.

He is Dias btw. Diaz plays at Bayern :)

I know some/many don't rate Dias. What they think is irrelevant. Pep and the club bosses rate him highly. Many were stupid enough to think Plodri isn't good enough or Gundo is too slow. Both would have been sold or benched if fans obsessed with pace had a say.

It's guaranteed that Dias will start many games next season if he is fit.

I cant believe Real would be interested in signing him, after our last few defensive performances with him in the side against them

Absolute leader. Brilliant attitude. Worth keeping just to set an example for the younger players.

Dias, when healthy, has been excellent for us this season.

I think the 4 at CB will be Guehi, Dias, Khusanov, and Gvardiol. I wouldn't rule out trying to find Reis a move to a club with CL or EL football next year, still 20 years old and has had one full season in Europe, wouldn't rush it let him continue to develop.
