Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

I was 19 when we got the Barca boys in and it became clear we were going to do everything to get Pep. 23 when Pep was announced.

Now I’m 34.

I feel both ridiculously lucky that my 20s coincided with the best era in this clubs history, and a bit foolish that I didn’t enjoy it enough while it was going on, even though I knew it would never get better.

I just hope we don’t spend the next 15 years longing for the Pep days like Barca have done, or 10 years hoping he came back like Chelsea fans and Mourinho.

Exactly the same here, age wise and all! Felt proper old but then I saw the FOC thread...

Also feel incredibly fortunate that I have been able to witness this phenomenal era and enjoy it. Feel privileged that I was able to be completely aware that this was the best it would ever be and could genuinely experience it.

I'm also aware that whilst a lot of it was down to Pep, it's also the hierarchy that have been able to implement an infrastructure that is conducive to success. I have no reason to doubt them now or the decisions they make moving forward.

Devastated to lose him, but will be fully behind Enzo.

Doesn't make the situation any easier but Pep's departure had to happen at somepoint. For now no team is going to match our centurions season and no team is going to win 4 on the bounce or 4 trophies in one season.

Would’ve guessed you was about 50

I thank him for everything & hope he has just as much success going forward but i'm glad he is now leaving. Its deffo time for a change, lets just hope we benefit from it.

Glad he is leaving? Don’t know why. We benefited enormously for ten seasons. He made the club into a giant of the game.

What more do people want? How long before you realise his departure is not something to be glad about? Weird wording.

If you’re going to miss, miss by a mile.

I was thinking about this earlier, IMO there’s 5 players who are absolutely nailed on to be in Peps best City XI for everyone. Ederson, Walker, Stones, Silva, KDB.

Every other place is kind of up for grabs, there’s 2/3 candidates for each position and I think most of them are as good as each other. Aguero vs Haaland, Rodri vs Fernandinho. They’re just as good as each other, just slightly different.

I think mine would be -

Ederson, Walker, Stones, Kompany, NOR, Rodri, Silva, KDB, Foden, Haaland, Sterling.

But tomorrow I’d probably choose Aguero. Or Bernardo over Sterling. Or Gvardiol LB.

20* trophies in 10 years is too long to have sustained success to reduce to eleven.

I wont realise because in my opinion i'm right & i'm glad because i'm glad. He did make the club into a giant of the game & we did benefit massively because of him but my opinion is we haven't been benefitting as massively in the past two seasons. Yes we won the FA & League Cup but Champions League & Premier League we haven't been anywhere near good enough in the past two seasons. We also should have won the Premier League with ease this season.

He has been fantastic but its over & it has been for a while & i think he knows it himself.

Miracle he won us 2 cups with this squad. Love him & it’s the correct time to go

Sadly the club let him down with poor planning with transfers.

It’s been a superb 10 years
I’m not sure the club let him down as such, but agree with everything else.

I think he’s made a few mistake over the past couple of seasons, but he’s been massively let down by woeful recruitment in the centre of the pitch. £200 million spent on Phillips, Nunes, Reijnders and Gonzalez and none are good enough to play there

Thanks for everything. Those first 8 years were glorious. And a nice little epilogue this season too!
