The Squad planning thread

Surely Nico G. is leaving...
Difficult to see him remaining unless there are peculiar circumstances of which we are all unaware.
We currently appear to be heading into 26-27 with only two established midfielders (Foden and Cherki) over whom there are no question marks. Quite concerning but equally quite exciting.

If you can predict the future and already know exactly what punishment we’re going to get, then go ahead and publish it, save all of us the waiting and uncertainty.

I was talking about two issues that I think could be problematic for us when it comes to signing players. First, the fact that Maresca isn’t Pep, which is undeniable, and second, the whole situation surrounding the charges and the possible punishment.

If I’m a player, or an agent representing a player that every top club wants, I’m looking for stability. In the past, the balance often tilted in our favor because of Pep. Now that advantage isn’t there, and there’s also uncertainty surrounding the punishment we could receive.

And maybe I’m wrong, you’re welcome to explain why. But what does any of this have to do with whether I’m a true Blue or not?
Of course Maresca is not Pep.

My point is that with the passage of time it becomes more and more likely that the result will be known soon and in my view before the end of the transfer window. At which point it’s not uncertainty. I think it’s also becoming increasingly likely that it won’t be a severe punishment, Chelsea, the confidence of the club, comments made on here the theory that the delay is a signal of something. The signings etc as soft signals.

Now my thoughts on the charges could be wrong but I would guess it’s more likely that I am wrong on the severity than I am the date being before the end of the transfer window. Tho I think being wrong on either is unlikely. However if I am wrong about the severity the problem is the punishment not uncertainty

I think all of what I have said is logical has been covered on here and would be the view of anyone who a follows this and be supports the club / owners / management as opposed to rivals who think we are guilty because they support someone else

Seems bizarre not to utilize him or have him on the bench.

I would also have thought that age would put him before Kovacic in terms of who we would want to stay next year.

Big ask to replace Bernardo, Kovacic, and Gonzales assuming Rodri renews as well.

Savinho, bernado, mamoush, Gonzalez, kovacic, stones, ake, grealish, Lewis all to go for me. That leaves a lot of dosh to build. We need start by signing the elite young European players like we once did sane, Rodri, bernado, Kevin etc.

Desperate for at least 2 midfielders with pace and energy, hopefully Anderson is one if them. Also a right winger and a challenger for Haaland.
No more buying potential or CFG, we need instant upgrades to the 1st 11 as without Peps magic, our outdated slow tippy tappy play may leave us behind the rest next season

I’d maybe give Savio another season but I’d definitely sign another forward that can play both sides

Out
Stones (confirmed)
Bernie (confirmed)
Sav
Rodders
Marmoush
Ake
Grealish
Lewis
Phillips
Gonzalez

The players coming in have to be the strong, athletic mould.

Most of our midfielders look like they are gassed after 20 minutes. And thats playing walking Pep football!!

Vianna has got a lot to do. He should be starting next Monday morning!!

Feels like a big summer. Whoever the manager will be, we need 2 or 3 top drawer players with proper technical quality and footballing intelligence. Our inability to string passes together tonight was painful. Been the same against pretty much every team that has pressed us well for two seasons.
We might do well to find someone with real leadership skills as well.
Whatever else, we can’t (only) be signing ‘project’ players. And I don’t want us to get anyone who can run or carry the ball, but can’t keep the ball in tight spaces or play a pass under pressure.

Midfielders, right winger or one who coul play both sides. Doku has improved , but he isnt a world class one yet. Also a full back is a must.

tbf this has been like 3rd match in 6 days

Maresca system requires goal scoring wingers so I wouldn’t be surprised if that will be priority this summer

And one of them is still a shadow of his former self

I'd expect hot summer for City

Out
Stones - confirmed by City
Bernardo - confirmed by City
Kovacic - has no place in squad anymore, also needs game time
Ake - has no place in squad anymore, also needs game time
Lewis - has no place in squad anymore, needs game time, probably will be loaned out tho
Alleyne - WIl be out on loan again

players who may leave
Rodri - Real are eyeing him hard
Trafford - needs game time, imho him leaving would be a costly mistake for us, i don't think Big Don will stay long term here, probably will be loaned out
Reijnders - from what i've have read, City will sell him if an offer is received, apparently Juventus and Newcastle are eyeing him
Marmoush - needs game time, I doubt he is happy with his current role, also Barcelona are eyeing him

+ Rumored Pep departure

In

Anderson - this imho is practically in the bag
i prefer additional CM - Maza
young right back - Read/Kayode or someone similar
probably few young players - Monga, Conceição, Eduardo Pape
DM if Rodri leaves - Tonali/ Wharton, Maybe Tchouameni if Real offer him as a part of Rodri deal
2nd if Trafford leaves - My ideal choice in this case would be David Soria from Getafe on a free, would be solid 2nd choice gk
this might be true

+ add Gvardiol to potential departures
