Will we win the league this season? No

Weird how there's been a general absence of the fact that we lost both centre backs to long term injury at the same time. The league was lost then.

Nevermind Donna not arriving pre season. Plus the horrendously bent decisions, I can see why anyone would want to sack it off with the cartel pulling every string they can.

Lots of pics on social media of Arsenal players on the town last night and in every picture there's a player with the Arsenal plastic bottle reprising that pose.

Whether it made a difference who knows but it for sure seemed to add more motivation to the team.

Don't worry mate, the PSG lot will have a few dozen bottles lined up to start the mocking again after next week.

If making a home and away bloke from Manchester feel bad is what gets Declan Rice extra motivated I’d be pretty fucking astonished.

Well done on the title btw.

Although we did not win the league this season, we came a hell of a lot closer than I thought we would. Why? Because our side improved massively over the course of the season:

* Nico O'Reilly developed into a versatile must-start player capable of fulfilling roles at LB and at Mid.
* Nunes transformed into a questionable RB with competition from Lewis, into a RB making the team of the year for numerous pundits
* Doku improved massively, from a winger who could easily beat a defender one-on-one but with little end product, to a winger who can sometimes beat a double team against him with good end product both in passing and scoring goals
* Our winter window signings were massive. Guehi and Semenyo both improved our side tremendously.

We won two domestic cups - League and F.A. - which, given the squad and performances we had at the start of the year - is off-scale remarkable.

My only regret this season, is that Pep isn't going to be our manager next year. Because we're set to win the P/L next year for sure, and other trophies too.

That said, Enzo Maresca may well prove to be one of our best managers. And certainly Pep did not leave our club bereft of talent as did Ferguson when he left the scum.

Regarding bottles and banners, it all makes for decent content and narrative. I actually find the Arsenal rivalry to have very little bite to it really, it's all done online and via memes. The Liverpool one felt visceral. If Arsenal players need bottle banter to make them selves feel good about it all then good for them. The joy of football, good season or not, is that next season is never far away.

You weren't right. You give the banter out when you can and you take the banter back when it's your turn to get it. It was a bit of fun. It didn't cost us the title. I bet you found the 'Welcome To Manchester' poster cringeworthy as well

What a fucking joyless life you must lead.
Exactly. What cost us the title was allowing Barry get a brace against us. The bottle thing had absolutely no impact.

What is the source of this confidence in us winning the league next season? People called this season a transition season, isn’t next season more of a transition season? In my opinion, we are probably three top players off a 90-95 point title-winning team. We need to add some match-winners to this squad

Who says there are any other 90-95 point winning teams? The level has dropped considerably since Pep vs Klopp and I don't see anyone ready to pick that mantle back up again.

So you’re only confident we can win an 85 point title winning season? Now that Arsenal have finally got over the line, what makes you think they don’t improve next season? We need to prepare for the season thinking it will be a 90 point season, and that means adding a couple of match winners to the squad.
