The Squad planning thread

If I was a betting man, and im not, id bet that Nico G is leaving, maybe Maresca doesnt rate him, but he fell out with Pep and probably wants back to Spain.

On Rodri, we know he wants back to Spain eventually, and clearly Madrid want him.

Its whether they wait a year or pay a decent bit to get him out now.

And after 2 years of no trophies, can Real Madrid go a 3rd year and not replace the Toni Kroos profile they desperately ignored that Rodri is suited for?

Probably not, and with Pep leaving, I wouldn't be surprised for Rodri to think this is the time to go.

So with Bernie gone as well, I think Kovacic and Gvardiol stay.

We need 2 midfielders. Anderson and 1 more, I pick Maza over Enzo personally.

Keep Rodri for one more season then let him go on a free.

Ive honestly had this thought too, especially if Pep was still here and then a new manager was brought in.

But with Maresca coming in, I think it just stalls squad development to spend time to build around Rodri as the 6, and then restart again with a new 6 next season.

New manager, might as well let him just restart with a new 6 now?

Get him Wharton and Anderson, Maresca would get alot out of them. And even the manager after him as well.

Maresca will know how valuable Rodri still is to the team despite his fitness issues.

Simon Phillips who is reliable for Chelsea news says that Cucurella could join us this summer as he’d welcome being reunited with Maresca over going to Spain.

He’d cost 40 to 50 million since he only has 2 years left on his contract
Respectfully, fuck that

Sounds like Maresca wants Fernandes but can we accommodate both Anderson and Enzo if Rodri stays? I still want us to get Maza and Anderson personally
Think they’ll be a lot of lazy journalism.

We were in for him before, he played for Enzo so they’ll say we want him.

We've got 3 wingers Doku, Savinho and Semenyo.
We've got two 10s, Foden and Cherki. You can make a case for Foden playing deeper, he has a long pass in him, but he's a bit light in the tackle.
We've got two 8s Reinjders and Gonzalez

And we've got a 6. Rodri.

And we've got Nico O. It sort of looks like he could play pretty much anywhere in midfield.

The problem with the 8s is that neither should be in a City starting XI from what we've seen so far.

It seems according to some that Anderson is a hybrid, which would be great. Play with Rodri and also in his place if needed.

But that would be a heavy workload for the lad. If Rodri gets injured which let's face it could happen, we then need someone to fill in alongside Anderson.

González is useful and could be back up to both. Whether he wants that is another question after playing so little in the backend of this season.

So at the moment it looks like

Rodri Anderson and Cherki

Second string
González OReilly Foden

Significant drop off but as we know you can't have 2 top class players in each position.

Two midfielders one young energetic duel winning monster with high potential and an older tempo setter with experience and supreme forward passing and pressing resilience.

A highly technical forward/winger that can play on both wings.

A Nunes understudy

Get rid of the deadwood. Free up wage space.

That’s it.

Keep Rodri for one more season then let him go on a free.

Why not sell him now for +40m and reinvest the money on someone more is excited to wear the shirt and more committed to stay ?

I love Rodri, but his last comment regarding his future seems that he is willing to leave.

If any player is not happy to stay then its better to let them leave.

I dont decide on which players there are rumors about.

I dont think the rumors for Gvardiol will happen, hence why I said he stays.
Ok.. but by that measure why not muse over every single not-rumored-to-leave player thereby causing everyone jump to conclusions? That or just keeping it to players who are openly rumored?

We're all a bit sensitive right now but one of the above makes sense whilst the other is kind of misleading/ dim.

Yep. Bandaid off. Love Rodri but if he's sporting wood publicly for a Spain move might as well let him finish now and make some coin instead of sitting around cock and no money in hand until next season.

What?

I dont think you understand at all.

There were recent rumors about Gvardiol, he isnt a player for which there arent any.

And im saying I dont think they are true and he stays.

What do you not understand? Your writing shows you clearly did not understand what I said (and now I've told you 3 times).

Anyone who thought we would be sending players to Girona on loan, may need a rethink in the squad planning, as Girona were relegated tonight to La Liga 2.
