Aston Villa (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Doubt we’ll ever see Rico Lewis or Savinho in a city shirt ever again. Utterly dreadful
Savinho looked pretty good first half apart from the final ball (yet again). Either he j6st can't pick players out or there aren't enough of them there. I guess it's a mixture 0f both.
Thought Rico was dreadful second half but why he was selected is beyond me. Shows we need a high class right back k

VAR is the perfect tool to manipulate the league / TV narrative etc... there is clearly genuine dislike for us and it was a perfect last kick in the balls to Pep that offside / non offside goal BUT when the TV want their dollars they can manipulate in our favor, this added added injury time think where in 'some games' their nearly a 1/4 of an hour added - depending on what the TV companies need to make their 'product' interesting! I'm sure that's what happened v Everton.. the added added time through gritted teeth no doubt - probably contrived fr money purposes - eek out the league etc... I feel TV run the game and its only going to get worse..
It won't be long before VAR is AI controlled. Pre programmed of course..

Thank you for taking the time to express the above, it wasn't clear to me in the original post.
In response to the second paragraph - I've stated in other threads, that level of player isn't around currently (for me anyway). We have to try to find the best of what is out there.
I'm not sure what you'd classify as World Class talent currently
How many of those players were 'turn key' when they signed for us?

Wont go through each individual player, but they all developed into top class players whilst they were here, not one of them was top class before arriving

What they all had though, was the attitude needed to develop into top class players, they were winners, leaders and built an environment that new players could buy into straight away

The next group should be Dias, Rodri, Gvardiol, Foden and Haaland, but this is the biggest concern I have, as i dont think any of these players have those attributes needed to create that environment

Its a huge period for the club now as its going to completely change overnight, new manager, a lot of outgoings, likely another 5 players coming in, and the club have to get these signings right as itll tell us which way the club is heading

Must admit I was surprised Villa started Watkins and Buendia. Pity as they were the best 2 players on the pitch. We did ok first half, created some good opportunities and bossed things but we came apart in the second half. The post match farewells were emotional and touching. It's something CIty always do well.
Nice send offs for Bernie and Johnny Stones. Great to see everyone stayed till the end.
Pep - thank you. We won't ever see your like again. I'm sure of that.

Most of Pep's achievements will never be bettered by our rivals. Even Fergusom didn't win 4 on the bounce.
As far as I can concerned the Pep vs Fergie debate is over. Pep 20 trophies in 10 years, Fergie 38 in 26 (quite a lot of that 38 were worthless community shields as well). 4 in a row, better treble, 100 points, better football, more class. That is not forgeting how he change football and the trophies won at other clubs or the 2 champion league finals where he wiped the floor with Bacon Face.

Agree with you, the quality has dropped dramatically. That maybe because Pep 'could have been' all over the recruitment and scouting process in his first 7 years maybe - but that's tiring and i'm assuming he let that side drift a bit hence we ended up with the likes of Marmoush, Savinho and Reijnders etc..I think Semenyo power, strength etc, but there's little guile there..Doku is a proper find mind you... but we have got a lot wrong in last 3 - 4 windows

Take away the community shields and it’s 17 in 10 for Pep and 28 in 26 for Fergie.

That VAR is definitely a fuck you to city and pep

They could easily have let it go. Nobody could possibly say it was offside. Villa couldn’t have cared less. 2-2 and everybody goes home happy

One way of looking at it is if they hate us that much we must have totally wiped the floor with them on 115

Who was the ex-player on the video tribute for Stones just before Delph. I didn't have a clue who it was - can anyone help?
