Aston Villa (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

She's alright looking, fairly average really, which is fine. Most people are.

just probably 5 stone over what's considered attractive and normal for a footballer to marry. If she was with any, nobody would be bringing her looks up. Not much wrong with her.

Decca obviously like some cushion for the pushin'. Fair play to him, at least its not some bimbo that wouldn't look twice at him if he didn't have that much money
Also, he came out and basically told everyone to fuck off and he fucking loves her. Fair play to the lad for that, shows more balls to stick up for someone you love than it does to go into town and pick up anyone he wants as a multimillionaire celebrity footballer!

I’m actually glad we didn’t beat Bournemouth

Yes it would have been completely different today and we’d have played a proper team and won… but there was no chance arsenal weren’t winning today

It would have put a right downer on the day

We looked alright in the first half but those players let themselves down a bit today, the second half was a piss poor effort. Not that the result mattered.

I think it’s clear next year that there needs to be a reset in playing style and we probably need a few in and outs.

Pep has been wonderful, as have stones and Bernardo. To do what they’ve done over ten years is nothing short of remarkable. The trophies and the excitement of winning titles was great, but some of the football we’ve played has been absolutely breathtaking. We’ll never be able to thank them enough but I hope to see all of them at games in the future.

Today wasn't about the game itself in any way. But how many games like that have we seen over the last two seasons? It's clear Pep has given us absolutely everything of himself the last 10 years and had no more to give.

The 2017/18 Centurions season we had players like Walker, Kompany, Bernardo, David Silva, Fernandinho, Stones, Gundogan, Sané, Sterling, Foden, Jesus, Yaya and Aguero. Who in the remaining squad is close to the level of those players?

I have to say that I'm excited about the future as we have some young players with potential. We may have a very good team in 2 or 3 years time. But I'm very much of the opinion that we asked too much of Pep for too long.
Thank you for taking the time to express the above, it wasn't clear to me in the original post.
In response to the second paragraph - I've stated in other threads, that level of player isn't around currently (for me anyway). We have to try to find the best of what is out there.
I'm not sure what you'd classify as World Class talent currently

Only applies if your kit is red.
VAR is the perfect tool to manipulate the league / TV narrative etc... there is clearly genuine dislike for us and it was a perfect last kick in the balls to Pep that offside / non offside goal BUT when the TV want their dollars they can manipulate in our favor, this added added injury time think where in 'some games' the nearly a 1/4 of an hour added - depending on what the TV companies need to make their 'product' interesting! I'm sure that's what happened v Everton.. the added added time (through gritted teeth no doubt) - probably contrived for money purposes - eek out the league etc... I feel TV run the game and its only going to get worse..

I wonder if the line up was completely voluntary. I could see Pep asking who wanted to play.

Well that was an emotionally draining experience if ever there was one - and I'm going back to Coop Live tomorrow to have my heart chucked in the washing machine one more time too. Ace

The club did the farewells far better than we played the game, though it was a dead rubber and the VAR call on Phil Foden was frankly farcical.

Today again illustrated why Savinho, Rico and Reijnders just aren't and never will be good enough if we have ambitions of dining at the top table.

Love the way the farewells were done for all today, and the Pep and Bernie ones hit me hard.

One final thought on all the "Seasoncard for life" we keep handing out - are they Flexi Gold, and what happens if say Gundo doesn't attend 10 games in the flesh next season? Just a thought.

On to next season. Time to start by adding Elliott Anderson asap.

Imagine all VAR calls were correct. We’d have won it weeks ago.
What cost us the title was 3 late goals:
  • The 89th minute Brighton winner on 31st August
  • Arsenal's 93rd minute equaliser on 21st September
  • Chelsea's 94th minute equaliser on 4th Jan
That's 5 points dropped plus 1 gained for Arsenal. If not for those goals we'd have gone into today's game 2 points in front, with a +4 GD over them. They say you can't win the league by Xmas but you can lose it. We proved that.
