The Rodri dilemma

We were very good when he got fit. His injuries as he recovers from a 2 year injury are to be expected. And to be honest his minor injuries are a positive for him as he realizes that not every knock is catastrophic. All that being said, he does need a full season run now. I believe. No Rodri no party.

I'd have been open to it if we had a good offer and he wouldn't sign a new deal but with all the other changes I think keeping him another year is priceless.

After his contract he can do what he wants. Sign a new deal, walk to Madrid and get a fat signing on fee or whatever he won us the fucking CL I'm never gonna slag him off.

IMO the bargaining chips fall with city. he is looking for lets say £300k a week - he might get it but city likely to offer a small bump to £250k safe in the knowledge that Real Madrid are not signing a 30yo who has struggled to regain the pre-ACL form. same goes for the other 4-5 elite teams in Europe.

The injury has made him injury prone... But I don't think theres a replacement out there for what he brings when fit.
Also we can't keep letting the been there done that lads go.. Else we're going to be in for a rough time. Going to end up with a squad of players signed from mid table teams with no experience of winning the big prizes, Chelsea 2.0

Can't wait for the transfer window to be closed.

Love Rodri and would like him to renew and stay, but if his heart is elsewhere then thanks for the memories & goodbye.

No room for sentiment in football. I love him to bits but he is 30 soon and will never be the same player again, no matter how much we want him to be.

We should have taken the £100m that Real were supposedly offering a year ago.

We should take whatever we can get from Real during the next transfer window.

Why would RM have offered £100m this time last year for a player out with a serious injury?

If he wants a statute and a send off like today, sign the contract. If he wants to go to another club that’s fine but he won’t be thought of the same way as vinny, pep, zaba, Fern, Sergio on and on…

I hope he stays and we add 2/3 quality athletic players around him.

No dilemma for me. Build the midfield around him next season.

He's being linked with Madrid, not Hull. Says enough.

Going to be enough changes, last thing with need is our linchpin going to Real Madrid.

(Obviously change my mind if he chooses he wants to leave which i don't think he will this summer)

Why would I pay now when I can pick him up for free next summer, particularly when the question over his fitness remains unanswered? Better to let City answer the question and save my Euros.
Unlike. But I see it the same way!

Milner gave us five good years and then enjoyed another eight at Liverpool, which he would probably never have received with us. I bear no grudges, Rodri will be turning 31 next summer and by then will have given us his best eight years.

We have set a pattern for allowing players to see out their contracts, so I can see others following suit.
I’ve never got the whole Milner hate. Yes they went on to be our main rivals during the Pep era but Milner moved to them pre Klopp when they were a mid table team. At the time we couldn’t give him the game time he wanted so he took up an opportunity elsewhere.

Always cringe every time I hear fellow blues boo him because he actually comes across as a sound lad.

It might be because he has been a sly dirty get particularly against Bernie and Foden, a bit like Savic was with Foden there was no need for it.

Sorting out our midfield will be Maresca's biggest issue. Hopefully Rodri can get back to full fitness and form but that's not a given unfortunately. I like Nico but he is significant downgrade. If Anderson comes then what does that mean for the other two. No more Bernardo, Kovacic another year older. Lots to sort out.
