Credit to the Villa players

Quite.. What a lovely gesture from the Villa players and management.. then those daft twunts on MOTD (Shearer and Rooney, egged on by that cretinous presenter) have to spoil it with their stupid responses..

For goodness' sake, why can't these herberts take a moment and (in the words of that young whippersnapper Harry Styles) 'treat people with kindness'.. not much to ask, surely?!

Well done Emery and Villa.. wish you well..
All because it didn’t happen at Dipperpool

Dalgleish's daughter, horrible rag Rooney and miserable **** Shearer, what else did we expect but sneering bollocks at a great sporting gesture, because none of them know the meaning of the word sporting. No wonder shows run by dinosaurs like these has beens and a never has who's only there through nepotism are dying.
Yesterday wasn't their business it was OURS. We don't need or want their opinion. Dit it affect Villa? No they fucking won the game. Cunts like these suck the life out of everything good, decent and joyful that makes it worth living. Fuck them.

I agree. Wouldn't want to see us doing that. Maybe I'm old school but game still going on and two guards of honour mid game? Not for me personally.

I think that the match officials KNEW that the city and villa players were gonna do that, and went along with it, because they knew it was just a highly significant and poignant one off occasion at the end of a long hard football season ..... the match and football itself just took second place, it wasn't really that important to either club, neither club moved in the table as a result of it.

You could actually see the ref and the other officials smiling as it happened ....

Well said John .... this was more an important and poignant milestone and occasion to be at, rather than a pretty meaningless football match ... neither club moved in the league table as a result of it.

Not at the Villa fans are bad saw a lot of them clapping

The players were class with John and Bernie and credit to them for that and the ref for facilitating to

Shame that Rooney and Shearer were complaining about the guards of honour on MoTD, pricks

I can’t stand the cretinous Shearer and Rooney poisonous double act but I’m not a fan of football guards of honour, at least not from opposing teams. Where’s it going to end I wonder. Imagine if the fixture computer next year throws up up a City v united last game of the season at the Etihad and pie face Shaw is retiring after more than a decade at the swamp to manage the local Greggs. All the City players form a guard of honour and the crowd all stands in unison to give a respectful round of applause. Strangely I can’t imagine that either.

I’m in the minority here, but there’s no place for a guard of honour half way through a game, do it at the end.
Yesterday’s game was attended by 60’000 people paying good money and we was basically watching a testimonial.
I fucking hate us getting beat, no matter what the occasion.

It wasn’t just a departure of any old player. It was two departures of two club legends. The fact Villa did that shows his respected the two players are in the game. They didn’t have to do that.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t have been celebrated mate. I just think a full guard of honour x2 half way through a premier league game is over the top.
We had a full hour after the match with video messages and songs sung in their honour.
We didn’t need to interrupt the game with 2 guards of honour and 2 drink breaks.
We also didn’t need to change the team as much as we did, fuck the World Cup I couldn’t give a fuck about it.
The game ended up like a preseason friendly and it didn’t need to be.
