The Squad planning thread

Why do people keep mentioning Barcola? I haven't seen any links to him anywhere but several times I've seen him mentioned. Does he want out of PSG? Wouldn't he be very expensive? Why would PSG let him go?
Not sure ,he plays on the left mainly and not sure that’s what we want. Though unsure really what we would want ,think it depends more on what happens with Marmoush more than Savinho what sort of player we would be looking at.

both these wingers were at the club when you claimed Cherki had similar qualities, Grealish is not a winger, he is a left sided midfielder, his qualities are being able to hold the ball under pressure and draw a foul. The rags will tell you that Grealish is a flop and it is embarrassing listening to City fans accepting that crap. I am not a Grealish fan boy i just do not agree with slagging off a player to keep rags happy, and no i do not want him back, he has had his time it did not work out
No one is slagging him off. He did not have a good understanding of space which is why Pep didn’t play him there. I still don’t understand your first sentence. You’re claiming Grealish was a 10 that Pep forced out wide. Neither Doku or Semenyo fit that description, only Cherki does, which is why I mentioned only him out of our other attackers.
Grealish isn’t a left 8 either. He only played 10 or LW for Villa. Being a Pep midfielder isn’t about winning fouls, it’s about near perfect Pausa which Grealish famously struggled with. He claimed that this “pausa” style of play limited his GA which was untrue because Mahrez had better numbers on the opposite flank whilst being better at pausa.

Haaland is going no where there is not a time that could financially afford him, except Real. They’re about to become an absolute joke next season.

The club is making a massive mistake letting Trafford walk. He’s the main reason why this season was good.

From what PSG fans say he should’ve won the ballon dor last season if he could shoot better, he’s got everything, technically superior than a Semenyo/Marmoush/Savio even though he doesn’t have great numbers this season PSG are looking for 70m. He’s not a starter he comes off the bench for the real stars and gives them rest by playing more games in the league. He’s also very versatile. PSG have a ton of money and almost everyone is replaceable outside their best 11 he’s included. I’d love him i’d stop him from going to an Arsenal or Liverpool.

He is an excellent keeper and nowhere near his peak. If JT had stayed as our No 1 he may, just maybe, have overtaken short arms Pickford and gone to the WC as England's No 1. It wasn't to be, however its probably made him absolutely determined to be a club No 1 from now on. Hope its the bar codes for him and that helps with a deal for Livramento or Tonali or £50m quid comming our way...

You might explain that a little better to me.
He won us two domestic cups.
I don’t know how people do not find it completely that a Pep Guardiola side cannot play out from the back and whenever a team presses us (usually in the 2nd half) we struggle and the effects it has on the whole team. Launching the ball every possession reduces our control over games which is how we won all our league titles. Death by a thousand daggers, we would mentally destroy teams and pass them to death. Yes the league has changed and Donnarumma is a great shot stopper probably the best we have ever had but he is not a modern GK. he’s only good at one aspect of the game. Now more than ever you need to be able to pass the ball well, because there are short windows to get out of the 1st phase and move the ball up the pitch, you need to have a fly keeper since teams transition more often, you need to be good at defending corners and he is poor in all of these aspects. When we can’t play easily at the back we find it harder to keep the ball, get a rhythm and create chances, we also have games like Everton, West Ham, Forest where his weaknesses really show themselves. He is a net negative. Enrique saw it after one season.

Whenever Trafford had played bar the final game of the season we have looked like our old self, the defenders and midfielders trust him and pass the ball to him. He is able to make passes that beat a press and kickstart attacks, we’re less predictable and far more likely to sustain consistent attacks from the opposition. I strongly believe we don’t win those cups if Donnarumma is in net. Trafford short stopping is not at Donnarumma’s level but it’s not light years apart. When you think about growth, this is the best Donnarumma is ever gonna get he’s not gonna wake up one day and start passing well or timing his punches in corners this is who he is, with Trafford there is evidence that he will only progress and with confidence improve rapidly with consistent game time - he will likely be englands no.1 GK.

I do not see how we dominate teams and win leagues with the football we’re forced to play with Donnarumma.

You can accommodate for players but there’s a limit. We already accommodate for Haaland since he’s not got the greatest link up play or pressing and made a 424 system to involve Cherki since he’s still learning the system and improving his workrate but we can’t also accommodate a GK like Donnarumma who can’t pass the ball to save his life. I’ve seen us win titles a certain way and to go back to that I don’t see with Donnarumma.

Why on earth would you want Livramento who’s got Such a bad injury record similar to Stones. Not ones you can ignore either, multiple knee injuries. Never rated Tonali, always seen him outshined by Bruno G would rather get him and he wouldn’t cost a lot.

Saw dias linked to Madrid.
Source was El Nacional.
No idea if that's a good source or not.

City also linked with Bayern keeper Nubel from another source.
