Enzo Maresca

The club want Champions League. That will be his minimum ask. Beyond that, silverware is a plus.

For Maresca himself, I’m sure he’d like some standard of football that gets the fans onside asap, so that he can step out of Pep’s shadow asap. However, for the FOCs on the East Stand, looking across at the dugout, it’s going to be hard NOT to think you’re still looking at Pep in the Manager’s seat, with the exception of the training gear versus some (too often) shit fashion show! ;-)

I’m sure Maresca will want to hit the ground running, but coming off a World Cup will complicate that a bit.

Wish him nothing but the best, of course, and with the backing of the club, all things are possible going forward.

Exciting times ahead!!!

Biggest & hardest job of his career. We dont need domination. We dont need you to be Pep, be yourself, become part of the club, understand our values. Fight for us, defend us when we need it most. Build on the strong foundations that have been built & continue to show faith in one of worlds leading academies.

If he can do all that he will do just fine.

80 points is about what I'd expect him to achieve in the first season. Anything more is a great bonus.
It's actually 77/78 points, but one would assume that with the better structure at City compared to Chelsea and a few crucial signings, he will be able to achieve between 80-85 and that would be enough to challenge for PL title most seasons. It doesn't seem too unreasonable when you look at it like that.

thanks mate. Good read. Whilst its hoped he won't try and copy Guardiola he is certainly retreading some of his playbook - talking to coaches from other sports, chess, philosophy...
It will be fascinating to see how it plays out and he had Chelsea playing really well (when at their best). He is obviously very highly regarded by the folk that matter.
Yeah interesting read. He certainly doesn't seem to be approaching this job as one where he just "keeps the seat warm" for Vinny. Seems to be very ambitious and eager to learn and improve. Has the humility to not just think he's the finished article as a manager.

I like how he's sought out various people to discuss how to manage individuals differently and I'm sure he'll have had a brief from Pep about what makes each player tick.

You'd be better off at RAWK.

Looking forward to it.

Similarly, I'm sure Carrick has sought out advice from Steve Bruce, Nigel Short, Phil Neville and famed Dutch coach Schteve McClaren

Why have we kept the set piece coach? Our set pieces have been awful
Is it the set pieces that are awful or simply the quality of delivery?

You could have an excellently choreographed routine but if the ball doesn’t beat the first man, goes over everyone’s heads or straight into the ’keepers arms, it all means nowt.

Or is it the only good set peices now are from teams good at the scrumaging and fouling and Pep wasn't interested in that.

We’re not very good in the air. Only Gvardiol is any good at attacking the ball with his head.

not got a clue how reliable this is
I love it when these folks write an announcement is expected in the coming days, well it’s not gonna be in the past days is it you fuck nut!

That's the point though, he is right in that an announcement will be in the coming days. Not going to risk being wrong in the guess by putting an actual timeframe on the statement!
