Is the lack of Saturday matches becoming a problem?

That will kill off lower leagues, infact we are fast becoming like serie A in terms of the games
Absolute rubbish.

There is no evidence that televising, say, Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur will deter people from attending an EFL match or even a National League.

Back in the 1980s, there was very little live football on UK tv and attendances were rubbish.

By and large the more live football shown on TV, the higher the attendances appear to be. This applies to all matches from the Premier League and down the pyramid in England and Scotland, regardless of when the matches are held.

Will be even more games next season with an asterisk next to them when the TV dates are sorted

And the problem is made worse but these international breaks for pointless friendlies which seem to happen in the a lot in the first 3 months of the season.
I can’t remember when these fixtures came in. But it’s really frustrating, you have spent all summer waiting for the new season and then 3 games in there’s a week break then another 2 week break. It’s fucking mental.
Just play a Wednesday night international like they used to.

I'm pretty sure I have seen evidence in the past that suggests Premier League games clashing with lower/non league does affect attendances. Can't remember when and where I've seen it though, so not much use in proving anything.

It's a problem for those who want full STs but can't guaranteeing attending games moved at short notice.
From a personal POV it doesn't affect me as I no longer do most away games and can get back from those I do with limited hassle.

There's football on every day eventually people will just get bored of it
Bored of it for years now ............used to be a big deal having one game on your full concentration on that one match ...........now on Sundays at 2pm you simply channel hope for fun if the games has a lull of say 30 seconds :)

Not forgetting that lots of us can now watch any game at any time via streaming sites.

Personally, more sunday games next season gives me the opportunity to attend more games.

However its gives the TV companies more power to manipulate fixture times.

For example; Should we get a champions league game playing in Kazakstan on a weds and ths rags are at home on the tuesday. The derby is booked the follwing weekend. We'll get the 1730 saturday slot.

Europa League and Conference League needs to move to Tuesday or Wednesday. They won't kill their own revenue though.

Or put it Monday and they play their league game on the Friday night before.
It needs to be less fucking games with less fucking teams. What they are doing currently is suicide by a thousand paper cuts.

The problem is, is that "like they used to" cannot apply anymore.
Qualifying groups for the World Cup and the Euros had 4 teams in each group so only 6 games were played over an 18 month period. You then had the Home Internationals thrown in over 8 days at the end of the season.
Since the fall of the USSR and the break up of Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia plus the ridiculous inclusion of the likes of Gibraltar / San Marino et al, qualifying groups have up to 6 teams meaning a total of 10 games.
Now throw in domestic European games, whereby teams winning the old European Cup played 9 games to win it, teams have now played 8 games before the end of December! The finalists play a further 7 (or 9 games if they were also in a play off game).
