Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

So the Premier League Team of the Season includes 5 Arsenal players… Raya, Timber, Gabriel, Saliba, Rice. Interesting they are all defensive players with not a single attacker. Says it all really.

So do we want the Tarquin Arses to win as a positive English football? Or, like me do you want to see them get absolutely thrashed and humiliated?
The fact that their brand of wrestling and thuggery has allowed PGMOL to give them a league title is a stain on the reputation of the English game.
They need to get twatted to hell and back in the final to give some semblance of repsectability and relevance back to the English game.

You managed to get to the final without facing Real Madrid/Barcelona/PSG, teams that I think are better equipped to pose Arsenal, and ourselves, problems. As you say, conceding first would be hugely detrimental to your chances, so I expect you to play cautiously and look to suffocate them. They do make mistakes. If you do concede first, however, and the game becomes stretched, then the fundamental flaws underpinning your success will be cruelly exposed.
There's a lot of truth in that but on the flip side everyone knows Arsenal can score at any time from a set piece. The question then is - are PSG better equipped to deal with that threat than the average PL team who faces that week in week out? We will see but I suspect Arsenal's set piece threat will cause more problems for PSG than it would for Man City as City are used to it and train for it every week as every team will adopt that tactic against them. How many set piece teams do PSG play against every week?

European refs may not allow the all in wrestling and thuggery at corners and set pieces that you rely on though.
PGMOL referees ignoring the cheating at set plays has been the main driver of your 'success' over the last two seasons,. If the european referees, who are notoriously less likely to allow physical play, actually apply the laws of the game then your attack is blunted by about 70%.

As others have said, the referees at this level are far less tolerant of what is ‘allowed’ in England. The authorities in England have deliberately created a game where physicality and a refereeing blind eye are sanctioned, all in the name of preserving some mythological English tradition, though really done to release Guardiola’s stranglehold. It would be no surprise to me if the officials played a part in the trophy’s destination tomorrow; the continent would prefer a PSG win for aesthetic reasons, and the authorities will not want all three trophies held in one country. If that unfolds, I’m sure the Arsenal fans will appreciate the irony. ;-)

Hearing a lot of bullshit about this arsenal team dominating for years now.A lot depends on the laws of the game being adhered to,or not really!?Besides which, would that be the same arsenal that couldn’t beat City in three attempts?Talk about getting carried away…at least they make me laugh!

We've scored a load of goals from set pieces in Europe and analysis has been undertaken on Arsenal's PL set piece goals this season and only the one at the Rags should have been disallowed.

We've scored more set piece goals per match in the CL than the PL so I've not seen the supposed refereeing differences in Europe.

If refs crack down on grappling that applies to the defending side as well which benefits us tbh.

I do have PSG as favourites of course and if Kvaratskhelia has a blinder that will be that but we've already battered Bayern and Inter this season so aren't mugs.

Who the fuck did this analysis, Gunnersaurus???

City didn't beat Arsenal in 3 attempts the last time you won the league so that's not exactly a good reference.

Finals are completely different. UEFA will not allow the final to be decided by anything controversial. Any pulling/blocking or potential foul will be pulled up, probably while the ball is still in the air to make sure there's no goal to rule out.

It still doesn't feel right that PSG have someone on the UEFA Exec Committee Board. I don't think he's been needed considering they've been so good in Europe.

What would be nice is for you to surprise everyone and win it playing some brilliant football, which your players are capable of.

Arteta has already lost a cup final trying that though so I'm sure he'll make it tight and look to win it on a set piece, which you have every chance of.

It comes down to whether your players turn up. It's a huge game. We've not played well in ours, with much more experienced players than you have. Can you go out and perform in the final? PSG certainly did last season, play like they did that night again and they'll beat you fairly comfortably.

I've got a feeling you'll win it. You've been awful to watch for large parts of this season, are definitely not better than PSG on any metric but having had one of the easiest draws ever seen in the CL you'll probably go and win the final and once again the history books won't care how you do it.

I often think that on the biggest of occasions, the authorities intervene to the extent that ‘clean’ goals determine the occasion. Having said that, I’m surprised that the referee from your semi-final is also the referee for the final.

You need to read that again, the poster said “ Arsenal couldn’t beat City in 3 attempts” obviously meaning this season, including the League cup when referencing punters saying Arsenal will dominate. As for the European Cup final, if PSG turn up there’s only one winner imo.

This might be an interesting match, but not interesting enough for me to watch it. I hope the better team wins, which is PSG. I agree with the comments on European referees not letting Arsenal get away with the shenanigans they were allowed to in the Premier League. Wrestling in the penalty area will surely be a penalty or free kick depending which penalty area. Head butts will be a red card.

I suspect that we might be like you were in so far as you lose the 1st final and then build on that experience to go and win the next one. Obviously I hope not!
