Who will be the starting GK next season?

Donnarumma. He had a great season for us. He overnight stopped us looking like we'd concede from the oppositions first shot on target (which we did far too often, previous to him). Some people have very short memories

Trafford also had a great season?.. Won both cups with him in net in which he made some superb saves. Also in his 4 league appearances he got himself a save of the season nomination.

Thing with Trafford is he doesnt have a clear weakness like Donna does with dealing with crosses/set pieces. And think the only thing Donna is clearly superior at is vocal leadership.

It's either or for me and it just comes down to who is the better fit for Maresca.

I want Trafford, think he’d spend his entire career here and will only get better. Donnarumma is world class but can’t see him staying into the 2030s.

Playing against Exeter, Salford and PL teams adjusting for the cup will do that. I dont think Trafford looked like a nailed on starter in any Premier League game this year.

If Maresca is that dogmatic, he's doomed to fail. Donnarumma doesn't need to be heavily involved in the buildup. All he really needs to do is recycle the ball quicker. That's more of a tendency issue than ability. He held on to the ball longer than needed a few times.

Your keeper isn't there to be your playmaker. Ederson was a luxury in possession that you can't replicate. If Maresca is any good as a coach, he's simply making sure Donnarumma plays the ball quicker to escape the press.

Even with Ederson, they'd drop Rodri to CB and spread the other 2 CBs wide to overlap any high pressing if teams actually press rather than the ones who just come to the Etihad and play 8 at the back.
Trafford was flawless in both cup finals but let’s ignore that hey?

He did well on the triple save but Arsenal didn't really offer much after that (not a knock on him tbf, sometimes as a keeper you just don't get much to do).

His distribution wasn't amazing against Chelsea (wasnt a negative) and there was that needless concession of a corner.

It's not a binary discussion of "he's world class or he's wank" because he's neither. But saying he was flawless in both games is pushing it.

Pep didn’t get that wrong. Ederson was arguably the best signing Pep made. Ederson was as key to any facet of our play for why we won as much as we did.
Anyone who watched the Claudio bravo season knows that he got it wrong for 1 year.

His lack of concentration almost cost us against Chelsea. Missing a pass and letting it slip under your foot and over the goal line is very basic.

He had a poor record in the PL and CL.
