The TNT coverage today has been an absolute disgrace. I don't have a problem in principle with a British broadcaster favouring a British team despite the fact that is a bias that is never ever extended to us. However today's coverage has been ludicrous from two perspectives.

Firstly they were completely disrespectful to the winners in terms of the level of coverage and analysis which was almost exclusively focused on the losers. More importantly they completely failed to provide an accurate rendering of what actually happened in the game. Arsenal were incredibly limited and stank the place out but it was presented as a tactical masterclass that they were unlucky to pull off. You could tolerate that from a club channel but this is supposed to be professional commentary and analysis, instead it was basically gaslighting.

Anyway, to change the subject to another favourite son of this thread, I see that on Wednesday, Slimy Stone was described as 'Chief football news writer' whereas yesterday he was just 'Manchester United reporter'.

Wish the BBC would make up their mind.

I bet they added in the United reporter title because of complaints of him constantly travelling with United in pre-season. I made one a year or so ago myself.

I listened to most of our games on the City App for the lad few years. Ali Mann and whoever is co comms are always enthusiastic about City but always impeccably fair when the other team do good. For example, our game at Bournemouth, they felt we didn't play great, the other team were exceptional on the night.

Contrast this with the usual rimming the redshirt seem to get on terrestrial TV and sly whenever I watch them.

I wouldn't mind if like you said it was consistent for all clubs.... But take our games against Madrid....pointy on comms screaming for Madrid... It just irks.

Ha ha McCoist wanted the rule changing tonight because Arsenal lost the toss for the penalty shoot out end and thought it was unfair because it was at the end where the PSG fans were and that also there was then an extra toss to decide who went first.
I suspect the wee cheekie chappie wouldn’t have even contemplated saying that if that was City.

Ever seen the media defend City like this??

meanwhile when talking about City:

Hate that prick when he comments on City games.
I had a pop at him on twitter a few years back for him using £100m Jack Grealish as his name when on comms (when I still turned the sound on!!!) he denied saying it but, did stop after our interaction.

Still a ****, wanker and anti-City as they come.

I would simply like Arsenal's play style to be questioned more. The game is not only about winning and they have stank out the place on multiple occasions. Just a little balance about it would be good. Endlessly praising shape and endeavour, just two qualities from many, without speaking of the lack of freedom and ingenuity, lies to an audience who can see exactly what is going on. Broadcasters have a duty (IMO) to promote the long-term good of the game, so condemning the time taken for throw-ins, free kicks, and restarts is a good thing: we ARE NOT entertained, and if this was a foreign team playing in the same manner it would be condemned as winning at all costs.

They talk about Arsenal like they're a plucky underdog.
Since he took over they have spent more than £800m.

More than £800m to have 25 per cent possession in a final and play like Stoke under Pulis.

Honestly, they get such an easy ride from the media.
They have turned every corner into a grappling match yet scream when it's done to them!

And what did our journos say about West Ham's disallowed goal?
That it was the right decision because Raya was fouled.

It actually took Chapman and Neville to call out the hypocrisy given what they'd done, and got away with, all season.

The way their fans celebrated getting a corner last night was embarrassing. (I LOL when the ref blew for HT!!!!)
You've spent more than 3/4 of a £billion to play for set pieces!

Maybe that's why Fernandes got PoTY because he's allowed to actually show his talents.
Wouldn't it be great if the journos asked lego 'ead if he's holding his players back????

Won't hold my breath.

Agreed.

The difference in reporting and comms is stark compared with some of our champions league coverage.

As a viewer I dont want cosseting or being lied to.
Balance,a bit of insight, and reporting what reflects what im watching is all that is required.

My dislike of Delaney grows by the day. in his analysis of the the final he comes up with 'The English champions could not become the European champions, as a Qatari sportswashing project rules the continent again.' Nowhere does he mention the fact thar Arsenal have outspent PSG over the last 5 years by judiciously re-building their squad whereas Arsenal have pissed their money away by buying bang average workmen players. Not one for violence but would like to give him one in his smug face

Arsenal will not get away with their cheating next season. Pretending to be injured, wasting time from the first few minutes, fouling at corners. The media coverage is ridiculous. They will struggle next season.
