Not quite sure what the script is with proceeds of crime in Scotland but in England and Wales, given the nature of his offending he would definitely be subject to a POCA order. A lot may depend on whose name the house is in. I’m pretty sure POCA can only go back six years from the criminal proceedings commencing though, civil limitation period applying. And he would do more bird if he didn’t pony up. POCA can be brutal.

And he will be getting a good stretch btw. Too egregious a breach of trust and over too long a period of time for that not to be the case.

Think the maximum sentence for theft is ten years in England and Wales. If so, after a guilty plea at a late stage reckon he’s looking at a five stretch.

Edit, theft is seven, it’s fraud that is ten. Haven’t even checked what he’s pleaded to. Assumed it was theft. If so, given the lower statutory maximum I’ll adjust that prediction to four years.

Second edit: having looked it up I think embezzlement is normally charged under the Fraud Act 2006, so I re-revert to a five year prediction if that is the case.

Fuck me, I’m all over the place!
Having a nightmare mate ;)

Big part of my job is sizing people up for how honest they have (or haven’t) been in various scenarios, and my spider senses are not tingling with Sturgeon, but she absolutely would have at least strongly suspected that the **** was on the take. Inconceivable she did not. She would have known or strongly suspected. And I’m happy to repeat those words anywhere.

So in any event she is simply not fit for public office.

It’s simply unarguable the other way.

Wow, life is full of surprises. I went round to the mother in laws today, fuck me, there's a 6 berth motor home on the drive.
I think she won it, must be, she's 92, can't even drive.

There isn’t a wife out there who wouldn’t question where you got the money from to buy a fucking boat. Especially if you worked in public office. So what was said in those conversations?

And taking her case at its highest she must have been satisfied with what he told her. Which was what?

Like I said previously not convinced she was on the take personally. Think she was too politically ambitious to risk it, but she must have known or suspected he was up to no good. It’s inconceivable she did not.

She’s toast. Absolutely finished imo.

Silly woman is still demonstrating her unsuitability for public office at every opportunity.
You aren't being punished for his crimes you daft cow, you're being punished because you didn't ask obvious questions.

Just watching her now on Laura K, she is either a brilliant actress or she is telling the truth. Naive fool possibly, ignoring signs for political reasons probably, criminally responsible i don't think so.

Inclined to agree (just going to catch up on the interview now) but someone that naive shouldn’t be in senior public office.

I reckon it’s a fairly common physiological thingamajig where someone suspects something but it’s more convenient, comforting and/or satisfying to just ignore it and carry on as if it’s not happening.

She probably at least had an idea but thought if I ignore it, it might go away.
