Enzo Maresca

Goes back to my point. What did Arteta do in management before he was appointed at Arsenal?
Good point. He coached for Pep - and seemed steeped in decent football - Wenger's Arsenal etc. So, goes to megabucks Arsenal, spends more than Pep in his seven years and stinks the Prem out with his bus parking and rule bending tactics and wins a meagre two trophies in seven years. And yet the red media are painting this as the start of a new beginning. His side are all prime age - late 20s and his flair players are being constrained. Deep down, Gooners will be unhappy with Arteta and when the dust settles from this and the Prem title, they'll voice it. They stank their way to the Prem and tried to stink their way to the Ch L. I'd go as far as to say that in our three games against Arsenal this season, our very young side schooled them twice and more than matched them at their place. Would PSG/Madrid/Barca ever appoint Arteta? No chance. He's doing with Arsenal what a good coach of a small club would do when up against a top side. He doesn't have the mentality of 'We're Arsenal, we're a good side, we'll create loads of chances, we'll more than match you all around the pitch and we're gonna take risks'. When we play the smaller teams, they usually park the bus for 80 minutes and go hell for leather last 10 mins. His side yesterday reminded me of Red Star Belgrade all those years ago - a side full of talent but in the final played for pens.

I see it as this was pep’s leaving week and the come tomorrow or this week it will be about maresca

Every day that passes is a day less to settle into the job before pre-season and the start of the new season

For me, the new manager has a lot on his plate with players leaving or the ones he does want, then the squad building. Grealish is a big problem in that maybe City and the new manager will give him a chance, Savinho is also reported to be back on the Spurs radar, Stones, Silva, places need replacing in the squad

Look, it's got to be tomorrow and straight at it for the new manager or we will be looking like fools

Maresca - unfairly sacked at Parma for being outside the promotion spots in November. Takes over relegated Leicester and wins the Championship at the first time of asking. Takes over crackpot Chelsea - one season in charge - wins the Europa Conference and World Club Championship. Falls out with Chelsea's crazy owners and medical team and leaves. Those two trophies go down on his CV as major silverware. Palace and Glasner winning the Europa Conference counts as a major trophy - same for Maresca.

Does that only work if the players were involved in it ? Planning a new squad or taking over a squad can be a big stumbling block if your miles apart in ideas
It can be, unless he has already made his mind up watching some of these players since January.

Viana still had Txiki as part of his handover.

I expect Pep has extended Maresca the same courtesy..

He's got to be in the job right now and have his plans already in place if this was planned months ago
It's a fine line, a couple of early losses could see some of the big-name players turn against him very quickly

Pep must remove himself from the club and the new manager, No involvement from Pep or this will end badly and very quickly. Player power or losing the dressing room is because players don't believe in the new manager

Enzo-Maresca is taking over the impossible manager's job, but the one saving grace could be Haaland and finding a system to feed him and get him flying again

I hope someone has got Wharton on the radar. He would feed Haaland.

reckon tomorrow, just seen Ferran Soriano getting picked up from T3 @ Manchester Airport. Ryan Air flight back from Barcelona with his family. ( with impending 115 must be cutting cloth accordingly)

Ye must all think money grows on trees. Wait till the night before the season starts to hire the new manager ffs.

Did they have luggage? If so it probably cost them as much as BA business class.

Wether it's Maresca or someone else, their first game as our manager in the UK looks like being against the arse in Cardiff for the Community shield.
Lets get down there and give them a great City welcome.
Start of a new era!
