Enzo Maresca

I don't know what happened between City-Maresca-Chelsea but some Chelsea connected Chelsea journalists have commented on the matter.

I don't know whether this is the cause of the delay in appointing Maresca, but I am wary that it might be. With City's current relationship with the PL, the club has to consider these claims. They may be baseless, but questions have been raised.

Kinsella is a Chelsea PR shill, as bad for them as Stone is for the odd lot

Pep has been the greatest manager City have had. A part of me will be glad to see no crazy changes of team sheets on important games, seeing players played in their natural position i.e. Phil as a 10 drifting in from RM, prob too late for Savio as an out and out LW, not waiting until the 80th min for glaring changes that could be seen in the 1st half.

Phil needs to wake up, sort his head and his other shit out before he can even begin to think about being a starter. That’s fuck all to do with Pep

Well in the earlier years Pep rarely made substitutions unless he had to, and we won most of those games where he stuck with the same players who started the match.

Huge contrast to recent times, last season in particular, where we often shipped late goals after taking 2-3 players off. Granted it was necessary to try to rest players, especially with the number of injuries we had, but there's no doubt in my mind that sticking with the same players that started the match seems to work out more favourably more often than not.

Yes. Kinsella's tweet (posted at the top of this page) mentions that Chelsea are seeking compensation. That seems to be the most likely explanation for the delay.

Chelsea YouTuber I think it was Younes , put a vid out a couple weeks ago saying that Blue Co the owners of Chelsea are blaming us for their season going the way it did. Because of us talking to Maresca, that they were stable until the talks happened even talking about a contract extension for Maresca.

Chelsea are basically trying it on
Don’t want to pay him severance and want us to pay compensation because they believe we basically tapped him up so he engineered his departure
Well they certainly know all about “tapping up”. Remember Mouriho and Cashley Cole in 2005. Rule breaking payments and cheating is in their DNA.

“Jose Mourinho and Chelsea have been found guilty of 'tapping-up' Ashley Cole at a hotel meeting in which the England and Arsenal defender was deemed a compliant participant.

Cole jetted in from New York to attend today's meeting at Premier League headquarters personally, hours after playing for England in yesterday's 3-2 win over Colombia.

He was found in breach of Premier League rule K5, which prohibited him from approaching Chelsea with a view to negotiating a transfer, without permission from Arsenal.

Chelsea were determined to have broken rule K3, forbidding them approaching Cole by any means while under contract. Cole's deal still has two years left to run. Mourinho was in breach of rule Q, governing managers' conduct.”

and the media then started a long slur campaign on Ashley Cole for daring to leave a red shirt club - Raheem Sterling's name comes to mind for some reason.

Assuming that Maresca is definitely the main target, then the delay won't be a problem just as long as all the transfer negotiations are in place and ready for the window opening on Monday June 15th

If Anderson is our main priority then we need to know exactly what we're prepared to bid and maybe have a Plan B player-swap-plus-cash rather than farting around all summer

Any other scenario, plus the Rodri situation potentially dragging into August will cause further issues down the line.

Does the delay in announcing this not seem a bit strange

Very strange..
Even if Chelsea is looking for compo, City should still be sorting this out before Pep stepped down.

You don't need an empty seat as manager at this time of the season, also with the World Cup days away, you hope to get everybody on board and plans for new players in and players going out.

Now it could be 3 or 4 reasons why, if the 115 charges and verdict are dropped or City is not 100% and somebody else could have come up last minute. Also, players want to leave in mass after Pep stepping down

We don't know if the delay is related to a Chelsea - City dispute but it seems the most likely explanation. The silence suggests talks might be ongoing but that's highly speculative.
