Enzo Maresca

Every day that passes is a day less to settle into the job before pre-season and the start of the new season

For me, the new manager has a lot on his plate with players leaving or the ones he does want, then the squad building. Grealish is a big problem in that maybe City and the new manager will give him a chance, Savinho is also reported to be back on the Spurs radar, Stones, Silva, places need replacing in the squad

Look, it's got to be tomorrow and straight at it for the new manager or we will be looking like fools
Grealish isn't a problem at all. Hes not good enough and if integrating him back into the squad is the height of our ambition it's not a good look.

It seems to go with the territory that every time City are appointing a new manager maximum effort goes into discrediting/disrupting the process e.g. thinking back to Mancini and all the questions about when exactly did City first speak to you Roberto, was Mr Hughes still the manager?
United on the other seems to get a very easy ride and that's normally with managers actually in employment, thinking about, Amorin, Solkjaer, can't remember Ralph's situation, but in general nothing whatever is done to deraiIl the process or suggest the managers are off limits.

Iraola announces he’s leaving Bournemouth in April, appointed to Lar-Lar Land 3rd June and nobody says a word, other than how great he’ll be (spoiler; he won’t be)…

An official announcement could take place at any time, but that explanation does not work. You can announce a pending appointment. If City have made an illegal approach, I do not see how moving the contract date can have any effect.

It seems likely that City and Chelsea are discussing compensation. We can either dismiss any such claim, or negotiate a settlement. The journalists are quiet. That suggests to me that there is an ongoing discussion. We are left to speculate / flap without news.
If there is a compensation claim delaying the appointment - personally I’m not sure there is - then there could be a benefit in waiting a short period until he starts his employment at City.

It’s possible that his Chelsea contract included a sliding scale for the size of any compensation claim should he sign for another club, with the sum diminishing in year 1, 2 and so on. This could be related to a compensation claim from a rival club or to Maresca himself possibly having to repay bonuses and so on.

He reportedly signed his Chelsea contract two years ago today, so maybe there’s a contractual reason for a short delay in him starting at City.

The treble season he was outstanding and then lost the plot in partying so much
There is a player in there who needs a good talking to if he wants to come back into the squad, Haaland a few others need to get hold of him and say jack your a good player with time still come again

There is no overall benefit of delaying Maresca's employment unless we think Chelsea's claim is due consideration.

We don't know if the delay is related to a Chelsea - City dispute but it seems the most likely explanation. The silence suggests talks might be ongoing but that's highly speculative.

If it's that, then we are fucked ? Chelsea will not play ball and why should they. The longer it goes on the more advantage they and others will get on us, as I said, this should have been sorted before Pep left

It's very strange if its chelsea that are playing hard to find a solution, then sorry we have had 6 months to sort this out and not have somebody pull strings behind the scenes

It won’t be that though. Maresca is or will be appointed. When the club do it will be whats best for them . The flapping is just the usual suspects.
It’s pretty obvious chelsea can’t stop him working unless they are paying him and hi coaches. If they report us to the PL for tapping up then the Premier league can charge us.

It depends on the detail. What was the nature of City's contact with Maresca? I do think it Could be serious but as fans we have no way of knowing other than that Chelsea have some kind of claim. We cannot determine its strength.

It’s slightly amateur hour if indeed we can’t announce our new manager as there maybe a tapping up issue

But how can it be a tapping-up case ? Chelsea agrees to his resignation and brings in a new manager ?
CITY still had Pep as manager and was staying for that extra year

I wonder if an official appointment will wait until 1 July?

Maresca's contract started 1 July 2024, and Chelsea FC accounts are prepared up to 30 June each year.

Therefore, perhaps City need to wait until then as it would officially be in a different season/period and avoid potential issues?!

A one-month contract is the stumbling block ? Just pay it up and get him in the job planning the pre-season and ins and outs
