Robot hoover: yes or no?

Whilst he did a great marketing job, no one has a Hoover anymore. It’s just been accepted as an alternative word.

Vacuum cleaner is a crap name for them anyway.

Not sure any area is a vacuum, but differential pressure cleaner wouldn't be a great marketing name.

They’re good, but not great. Given that you need to clean them out frequently, pick them up when they run out of power/ chew on a rug etc and you still need to do a ‘proper’ vacuum anyway, they're no less overall effort than just running the Hoover over everything once a week.

The only exception is if you live in a hard-floored, sparsely-furnished house that looks like a museum, or art gallery.

I love mine, has about an hour runtime and good suction. It will do front and back rooms, hallway, kitchen and kitchen extension in about 30 mins. combination of carpets. wood floor and marble. I can work upstairs and let it do it's thing. Empty the dust compartment once ever 3 runs taking seconds to do.

Little and often is the key. Picks up all the fluff and bits that fall onto floors. Obviously can't deal with deep down dirt, but in the year since I bought it, I've never regretted doing so.

What model is it?

It's a Xiaomi S20+. Has Lidar for smart mapping and can mop floors, but that's more a gimmick. Can only store 1 map though, could be a problem if you wanted to use it upstairs and downstairs. But it sits on its charging dock waiting for the nod.

Same here, we normally set it going when we go to the supermarket.

We're constantly amazed how much it sucks up once a week, as there are only 2 of us in a 2 bedroomed, 2 bathroomed flat (no pets), various surfaces.
