Daft Donald. Although maybe he deserves a thread all of his own.

That's already been done...:-) And Donald is exempt from the above as he would have been about 4 at the time. Even for him that would have been far too young.

No reference to the above mate. I know 1970 is before his time. Didn't know he'd already had a thread though? I'll have a look for that cheers.

I used to stand on the kippax with Tony Whelan - he played for United youth in the morning then come to watch City with his combat jacket on covered in City graffiti and a Union Jack

As you may be aware he eventually played for his beloved City later in his career

I used to play against him at school - he played for St Pauls in Urmston and I played for Stretford Grammar

I remember mick the idiot (Stoke away running out the Boothen), Daffy (The Clarence), D Bigga, Geezer and Jap (Gorton), Sinbad (also ran into Derby fans alone on the pitch at Derby away last game one season), Debbie and Tony, Pez (Perry Boys, always in the AWAY section of the Kippax) Pat B (now Cheadle?), F Pratt (massive fight outside OT on Warwick Road Bridge with Utd) The lads from Bramhall, Longsight, Withington (wooley), Burnage etc (C Burns, G hayes, too many to mention)

There were loads of little crews in those days.

Is the F Pratt you mention Fred Pratt from Kingsway,Burnage?
I used to go to away matches in the mid 70's with Fred's crew.
He was as mad as a hatter in those days,he smashed a pint pot against the ceiling of a pub full of Geordies at Wembley 76 and then offered the whole lot of them out,but none of them wanted to take him on.
He also offered all the mad jocks out at the beer keller in Blackpool one weekend and none of them wanted to know either.

got told a story about a man who had a broken leg in a derby at main road and throw his crutch into the rag end and a policeman went and got it him and gave it him back

He actually runs his own building firm these days,my pal Barry who got to know Fred through going to building college with him back in the 70s is one of the partners/directors of his company.
Not bad going for a City Psycho eh?

Loads of PSYCHOS from back in the day have done very well. Some not so well. Many of them I know went abroad and never returned. USA, Trinidad, Aussie, NZ and Sweden just some I know of.

Fred will probably remember B Skreeton too from that area. We all used to drink in the Mauldeth , Derby etc.

Does anybody on here remember or still know Frank Ingle from Burnage.I got to know him quite well in the 80's as his sister Anita was the best friend of my wife and were bridesmaids for each other etc.and i used to meet Frank and his two City mad brothers George(Judd)and John at Ingle family gatherings.
Frank was always pissed when i saw him on the Kippax and was always game as fuck when it started going off.One of the tales I was told was that someone put him through a plate glass window in Stockport so went round to the blokes house the next day with an axe and proceeded to try to smash the front door down, until he was arrested by the police.
Good lad if he was on your side though.

Fred always used to get the mini-bus/van from Salford Van Hire,he would then pick me and Barry up in town, and then go and pick his mates up from the Talbot in Chorlton, the Mauldeth and sometimes The Parrs Wood.

Nice to hear that Frank is still doing OK.If you ever speak to him tell him that Phil Egan (Barbara Rowsons husband)was asking after him.

I remember a face who always used to hang around near to or in with the away fans in the Kippax. If there was any trouble,he was involved. He was a tall guy with dark wavy hair.Me and my mates were in awe of him and always used to look out for him.
I remember when we played Dirty Leeds away in the late 70's,him and his mate ,climbed out of the Leeds end,ran across the pitch whilst the game continued, only to stop and give McQueen the wanker gesture and then jumped in with the City fans.Happy days.

Lad called Johnny Khan had a bit of a punch up with McQueen on the pitch. Cup game it was and we took fuckin thousands.

John Khan ended up manager of The Imperial pub, near Piccadilly station, for a couple of years after that match. He was banned from football matches for life, and the police enforced the ban to the full.

Will always remember that game at Leeds, as we took 15,000, surely the most for an away game since we won the league at St. James's Park?

Hope the team has some success soon, while some of these people mentioned on here are still young enough to enjoy it! True supporters!!

Hi steveo. ;-)

Don't worry, you are still young enough to enjoy it. Just. ;-)

Is Frank Ingle in his mid 50's? If he is, he's probably he same Frank Ingle in my year at Wilbraham High in Chorlton. I remember standing on the Kippax with him at the end of the sixties, before I left Manchester to join the RAF.

most of us will remember some characters from m14,heres just a few, helen and her bell, the francis brothers, brad doyle, scotch mick security at the maine entrance, daft donald, the guy at the front of the kippax in his 70s bomber jacket and bag, still wears it now, kippax debbie, jimmy meagan, the ticket touts, now who have i forgot?

A character of note and still going strong. "S-A-L-F-O-R-D, Salford Blues MCFC...."
Met up with Brad after getting panned at the swamp a good few yrs back,in pier 6, walked in after the game spotted him sat there in his big city coat..'what a pile of shit that was' i said, which kinda woke him from his sulk...he suddenly jumps up and shouts to everyone....'Why dont you fuck off back on ya coaches, ya cockney twats'.....he was stompin round the place like a man possesd.

Had a season ticket in the South Stand Upper for the 07/08 and 08/09 seasons before returning back to the East Stand after. Anyway had a bloke directly infront of me who used to 'flip' at the very mention of the word Chelsea. By all accounts after we had been relegated in 2001 under Royle he had been caught fighting with Chelsea fans in the North Stand and had recieved a 5 year ban 'cause of those Chelsea cnuts'.

Anyway me and the lads next to me used to make a habit of mentioning Chelsea everygame just to watch his reaction. It was priceless.

-- Sun Aug 01, 2010 11:38 pm --
