Oh yes - just whilst we are putting all these gremlins from our history to bed , heres another one, robbed in 1981, scarred as a kid, payback time !!!

Hee hee, I,ve been saying we,d draw them since we beat the arse and it,s payback time for 1981 alf grey. It,s funny how many of us have harbored this feeling over the years. This time we will defo do them with or without a crap ref

We sung gustily "We want the fat twat back, we want the fat twat back, we want the fat, we want the fat twat back" (Roger Kirkpatrick) due to Alf's refereeing incompetence.

First thing I thought when we drew them, its been a long wait but lets set the record straight on this one.

Same here. His name is embedded in my memory. We should have had a wembley double that season.

And no smart arse comments that we did play there twice. You know what i mean;-)

I've never heard of him?

Kevin Reeves and Alan Hansen know all about the bent bastard, totally outplayed them and robbed.

The ref obviously. Just a bent Twat then.

As good and as fair a goal you could wish to see and would have put us 1-0 up at home and yet he was the only person in the 50,000 plus crowd that saw it differently. Graeme Souness went on to score the winner for them and despite battering them at Anfield in the return leg we could only manage a 1-1 draw and went out.

They were great football nights at Maine Road in the late 70's early 80's, rushing home from school, the atmosphere building, the mist and the rain through the floodlights, the smell of the whole thing, the backstreets, the no 53 bus home, the older blokes talking football, getting in late before going to bed for school knowing none of my red mates ever went, proud to be a blue.

Agreed. The smell of No.6 and meat pies hung over Moss Side.

Yeah that was Big Mal`s team who were robbed.
Bond was manager then but his signings were ineligible for the league cup.

Grey was the referee at arsenal league cup qtr a couple of years before when McDonald did a Suarez and awarded a pen, the only guy on this planet who thought it was a pen, then for his finale the Kevin reeves one!
