The words "David Gill" and "decency" in the same sentence?

There'll be something behind it mark my words. He'll either have something to hide himself or (probably more likely) he's waiting in the wings until the mess has been cleared up by the FBI/DoJ and he can step forward, untainted, as Platini's puppet.

It's not like the seat he's refused has been left vacant. It's a British seat so Trefor Lloyd Hughes of the Welsh FA has taken it instead. Anyone confusing David Gill, the man who publicly railed against the Glazers' plan to plunge the rags into debt yet has taken their shilling and shares in the last ten years, with a man of principles is going to be mightily disappointed.

I did say hint. I thought he'd have given us a U-turn "Change from within" speech tbh.

Not saying he's a good person by any stretch, he just did a slightly less cuntish thing than expected.

It is not integrity at all.

In his own statement, he said that his "professional reputation is important" to him.

New speak for "I'll be ruined if I become associated with this man"!.

I actually think he may have done more good, had he taken his place on the committee, and then spent every day shouting as loud as he could about corruption and shining light on all that is wrong at FIFA.

As it stands, all he's done is tried to protect himself, and quite possibly with the motive of attempting a pwer grab himself, once the current administration is removed.

If Gill were to make a power grab, he would be under the scrutiny of the 'Western Meedya' and he wouldn't be able to smokescreen his way around and out of it à la Blatter. Whatever ulterior motives Gill might have, his actions are those which are being more than suggested for the rest of those individuals and groups opposed to Blatterdom - the players, the national FAs, government, law enforcers, and so on. He will do more good for the game by pissing into the tent than shouting the odds inside while Blatter and his African and Asian cronies offer him a gold plated key to the executive washroom.
 
Just been reading about a new scientific breakthrough emanating in Switzerland. It is a new metal that can be bent into any shape and then return to its original shape. The metal ( code named B.lata ) has similar properties to Teflon.

The guy's a dickhead. He could now get the 2026 WC for England for free. Blatter is on the ropes and will cut a deal.
