Who?
Gill and his minions.
Who?
Personally I was embarrassed by the reaction of the FAI and the majority of fans at the time and am a little embarrassed about this even if every penny went to the FAI it all seems a little grubby. That being said this is Ireland so Delaney will probably be seen as being 'cute' and so fair play to him getting the money by a lot but this being Ireland he could well lose his job,he is on a huge salary and every few months he seems to put his foot in his mouth over something.
The FAI is basically a FIFA lite as Delaney bragged he couldn't be bribed 'not on my salary' but there are all sorts of rumours about how money is spent by and on the upper echelons of the association and how it trickles down. The debt they carry now is over 50 mil which for a country our size is pretty substantial and they don't even pay all of Keane or O Neills wages, theisa and Trap's were funded by a guy called Denis O Brien. It's a farce.
Supposed to have been knobbing Trannys ex Irina Shayk, WTF, the jammy bastard
There's a further complication: both parties are claiming that it was a loan (I know, my sides are hurting too) specifically for stadium building. At that time, the FAI were involved jointly with the IRFU (who'd generously agreed to share tenure on what was previously their exclusive stadium) in re-developing Lansdowne Rd. If the FAI had an extra €5m, specifically earmarked for the project but withheld it from the rugger buggers...?Cannot comment about FAI generally but regarding the FIFA incident there are two ways of looking at it I suppose.
There was nothing FIFA could do about changing the result so offered money compensation in lieu of the error. Presumably this money came out of the sponsor money before theft took place not from a money rich thief within FIFA ? If Irish players were on bonuses to reach certain stages then this should have been distributed to them from that compensation.
However if FAI knew that others were corrupt and used the incident to demand a cut then they are part of the FIFA problem when they accepted the 'hush' money.
This is getting better by the day.

No, it was a compensation payment triggered when Blatter broke a non disclosure agreement. The '33rd team' joke. There was nothing FIFA could do about changing the result so offered money compensation in lieu of the error

Delaney should go anyway, he's useless.
Before English fans point their fingers at other nations like Russia for racism issues, they need to have a good look at themselves. England is known to have the worst fans in the world, for hooliganism and violence. Incidents like Heysel. Plus Euro 1996 was the worst Euro ever hosted. Full of violence, bombings and rioting. Not to mention, a Russian football fan was murdered during 1996. I'm not saying Russia is better than England, no way I am. I'm just saying no country is perfect and England is no better than Russia when it comes to fan violence/racism.
It's very good Russia got it, but the second best option would've been Netherlands/Belgium, not England.
I understand but at the time England got the 1996 Euro, England was a bad place for football fans in general. So it's hypocrisy for English fans to speak on this issue.England has come a long way in 20 years in terms of racism and violence. You need to update your thinking its out of date. Russian football is full of racism, violence and your country's attitude towards minorities and homosexuals is from the dark ages.

Did all that really happen during Euro 96? The only bother I can recall is after England lost in the semi, and that was pretty much confined to Trafalgar Square iirc. Before English fans point their fingers at other nations like Russia for racism issues, they need to have a good look at themselves.
