I don't believe City are leaking details of this.

I think it's all about Liverpool being seen to 'have us over' in the media, thus deflecting from the fact that one of the players from the 'best club in the world with the most istree' wants to leave & would sign for 'little City'.

its not coming from man city the media are just writing anything they want and what I said before its a done deal and CITY and only city will put out the deal when ready and the fee will undisclosed that way Liverpool can cover any deals for more players they want to sign I think its only right that city have not been doing there dirty washing in public and when ready we use them not the over way round

I much prefer for Liverpool to have one over us in the media and City have one over them in football and trophy winning terms.
Let them think they have one over on us. We will be taking one or if not there best player. He's a class player with bags of potential and will get better playing in our team. Liverpool fans are gutted deep down, I know they are. Few months back they all loved him, now they are all crying into there giro's.

And everybody knows it.

£50M is too much money for Sterling, if we're being honest. However, in the grand scheme of things, does it matter if we overpay? Sterling would add much needed pace and width to City's squad, plus the ability to take a man on, and he's homegrown which we obviously need to add to the team with Lampard and Milner gone. If we can afford to pay £50m, and it doesn't affect other potential signings, or our FFP position, then overpay, get the player, and improve the onfield playing staff.

Express today say "Sources close to the Merseyside club have indicated that City won’t drop their interest for the sake of another £10 million in a summer" Clearly that's a nonsense quote unless it had been City sources instead. So it's either Liverpool trying to control the media agenda before a deal or the deal has already been agreed pending Liverpool's required media manipulation prior to announcement.

Especially if we budgeted for Pogba but it's really Delph that is DEFCON 1

True, if we've budgeted for Pogba, but he stays at Juve, or goes to Real/Barca, then whoever we do get to fill the central midfield role will be cheaper than Pogba would have been. That's additional budget we can use in other areas. Wilshere, or Delph, for example, would cost substantially less than Pogba, tens of millions.

50 mil is too much for Pogba if we're honest, never mind Sterling. But the market is what it is, & that's not our fault, but we either join in, or miss out.

We obviously want him so badly that we'll pay the fee, so no not overpaying. We think he's worth that to this squad. As for the dippers getting one over us, no they're a selling club living in the past.
Personally I don't really give a shit what we pay anyway, but I do like the idea of Sterling in our attack supplying a certain little Argentine. Frightening.

Confident this will be settled somewhere above £40m and below £50m. On that basis both sides should be happy and move on with their other business.

Agree but City are in a good position, Sterling wants our and they know it, which means that if they play hardball they face an unhappy player which is unsettling, plus they'll want to replace him, I really can't see us whacking 50m on the table for him.
