Dzeko?

Don't understand why Dzeko gets so much stick from our fans.

He has scored some very important goals for us, for example against QPR, and it was his form that led us on to win the title in 2014. Okay, he may not run around here there and everywhere like Aguero seems to do, but his style of play is a lot different than his. He is strong, holds the ball up well and he can strike a ball, all the attributes of a top striker. He could get into any team and do very well.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but, some of the insults his way is embarrassing. Okay maybe most are said in jest, but he is one of our own afterall.

A load of bollocks I'm afraid. He really doesn't hold the ball up well at all!

Yeah, I've got to agree. His ability to hold the ball up is probably one of the main reasons why his time at the club has come to an end. That and his lack of ability to retain possession in general. Dzeko is a goalscorer, everything else he does isn't at the level required. When you get a season like the last one, where Dzeko scores just 6 goals in total, his other deficiencies are all the more glaring. A team at the level City are at can't afford to have someone as inconsistent, and one dimensional, as Dzeko on their team.

With Dzeko likely leaving, and Jovetic also looking like he's gone, it's clear City need to bring in at least one new striker, maybe 2 if Iheancho isn't deemed to be ready.

Totally unfair imo....scored some important goals for us..

He's been playing for Man City, a team who has scored hundreds of goals in the last few seasons, with players of the quality of Toure and Silva supplying chances for the strikers...anyone half-decent playing in this team would have scored "some important goals" for us with those factors in place. The issue with Dzeko is that aside from those goals, which dried up badly last season, his all round play has been at a level below what we need.

To be fair to Edin we don't play to his strengths and neither should we. He's a player who needs to be the main man and feel loved and he needs lots of crosses into the box.
If he went to a team that did play to his strengths and made him the main man, he would bang 20+ goals a season in.
