That "unknown" reason was he feared he'd lose his England spot leading into the Euros if he wasn't playing regularly, which would have been the case at City.

Not sure why Schweinsteiger being the "captain of the World Champions" implies a huge amount of class on his behalf. Dino Zoff was "captain of the World Champions" in 1982. He was 40. Schweinsteiger is a good player, but he'll be 31 at the start of the season, he's coming off a host of injury shortened seasons, and he's entering a league, and a packed schedule, he'll not be used to. A good signing, but if you think you're getting 30 league appearances from him you're mistaken. Plus he's clearly not the player he was. As for Schneiderlin being one of the best DM's in the World, please, sort yourself out mate. A good signing for United for sure, certainly he'll fill gaps you've had for a while, but if there's one thing Schneiderlin isn't it's World Class!

That lack of competition was because no-one else could afford his asking price, not because no-one else thought he was good enough. Wenger has commented on Sterling and the signing, saying how good a player he is, and stating that the only reason Arsenal weren't involved was that they've got a lot of similar players in their squad style wise already. As for the mercenary comment, I forgot that all United players play for the love of the shirt, and grew up dreaming of being Georgie Best. All footballers are interested in one thing, themselves. What they don't seem to realise is that last year's signings of Di Maria and Falcao were slightly worrying for us.

If they had come off, yes, they would have been a serious threat.

They didn't though and their squad this season on paper will be worse than last time round.

The thing is, most of our players who've been given the label "Mercenary" have proved to be acute signing who've been value for money. Aguero, Silva, Toure, and Nasri have been the bedrock of our achievements and their transfer fees and wages wouldn't look out of place if they were at Utd - they'd probably be earning more these days.
