I think it's a clever signing personally as I don't think they can gamble on an up and coming midfielder.

They need someone like Bastian who they know will just walk into the dressing room and hit the ground running whilst at the same time lifting the dressing room through his aura and respect in the game.

Many on here will want to say otherwise but someone like Schweinsteiger easily takes United's midfield up a level, with Herrera add in Schneirderlin to rotate with Carrick and they have a top quality and balanced midfield.

31 year old (by the time the season starts)with serious fitness issues, on what is presumably a monstrous contract. Seems like another RVP, hoping to squeeze a year or two out of him rather than actually build for the future. Pretty telling that the better team is letting him go and looking to the future, while the team trying to just get away with it takes him off their hands. It'll be interesting to see how he does in a team that isn't nearly as good as he's used to, in a new league at his age.

Say what you will, but this is a fucking fantastic signing and would have taken our midfield up 2 levels. This is exactly what we need to calm the headless chicken of a midfield we see often during our chanpions league outings. I fucking hate the rags for it, if it comes through. Sometimes you need a strong short term push to bring back confidence to a club. Plus if they win anything with him, it will only serve to attract more players and I'll be dammed if they win anything else soon. Fuckers.

Fuck, Sweinwhatever is a good signinget. he's an experienced head to settle them without being past it. 100% of a teams players can't be potential.

Has a German ever played for the Rags before?

Does this count?

Ron-Robert Zieler (born 12 February 1989) is a German footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Hannover 96 and the German national team. He began his professional career at Manchester United, where he did not play a competitive match, making his debut on loan at Northampton Town.
