Reports in Portugal say that Juventus are on the verge of launching a €15m bid for Porto left-back Alex Sandro.

Portuguese outlet A Bola has reported today that the Bianconeri are ready to submit their opening proposal for the 24-year-old.

The Brazil international, who joined Porto in 2011, has a contract running until next summer with the Portuguese club.

Juventus have been very active in the transfer market so far this summer, capturing Mario Mandzukic, Sami Khedira, Simone Zaza, Neto and Daniele Rugani.

FWIW ... a year ago, during the long wait for Mangala to finally sign, I watched maybe 2 dozen old Porto matches stretching back to Spring of 2012. Saw lots of Sandro in those vids. Don't remember believing he was any kind of hidden gem, but figured he'd end up in a bigger place eventually. Kinda thick-bodied, kinda rash - would be baffled if City is really really interested in this guy. Maybe he found something in his game over the past year tho. shrug

Seen a decent bit of him, I watch Porto whenever I get the chance, bit of a second team. He's decent but nothing special, defends decently, attacks decently but not great at either. Anyone thinking he could come in and be an instant improvement would be disappointed, contributes nothing offensively compared to Kolarov and is about on a par defensively, a little better than Clichy going forward but not a patch on an on form Gael defensively. He's one of those players who has potential to improve though as most of his shortfalls are down to decision making.

Gracias.

Sounds much more suited for Serie A than the Premiership. Perhaps we are indeed using Juventus' interest as a bargaining chip?

Sell Kola, bring this guy on!

Agree, in principle, with selling Kolarov (haven't seen enough of Alex Sandro to say we should sign him as a replacement if I'm being honest) however that assumes that Kolarov would be open to leaving, that we could find a club willing to meet our valuation, and that we could work something out regarding his wages, as whoever would buy him would undoubtedly not be willing to offer him as much as he's currently on. I'm sure the club aren't tied into the idea of having Kolarov here for too much longer. His form is inconsistent, and he'll be 30 come Christmas in what is, already, an ageing squad.

Given they are allegedly demanding £17.5m/€25m from us for him, I'd be pretty pissed if he went to Juve for only €15m...

We've been linked with Alex Sandro (target for Juve), Nicolas Otamendi (target for Utd) & Isco (target for Chelsea).

Basically, we're the big, bad wolf that is mentioned by agents to leverage transfers that don't seem to be moving fast enough.

Thanks for the info and all the stuff youre dailly updating, mate.

PD: Im begining to think, that we should, mayve, to do the way the germans fans forum works. With 2 separates threads for the same player in the same transfer forum.

The one for the discussions, and the other only for the facts,.. infos the likes, youre always posting here. So that, some of us, dont hane to click every single time upon every single thread to get the update of the whole negiciations status... Anyway,,, wanted not to wum... hehe :-)

Watching the pre-season games so far I think it's pretty evident that we need to look for an improvement at left back.

It's our weakest position defensively.

Think there's something in this. Presume it relies on us being able to move Kolarov on though, which won't be easy given his wages.

problematic position this,we simply can't go into the new season with clichy and kolarov again, teams are exploiting us here every week.

Can't we chain Kolarov in a cabinet in Australia and just say he's gone missing? Could even claim some compensation.

Have a picture of Pelle sending him to the shop and when he gets back the bus is gone. :-(

You just have to love the way Ric enters a thread these days with a very matter of fact statement then fucks off.

They aren't. But when it gets to the CL Round of 16, this is our area of weakness that is exploited the most. Defensively neither are good enough at the highest level.

When we were in for Mangala from last January I watched Porto whenever they were on and I don't actually think this guy is particularly good.
