Talking to a Celtic fan on holiday (season ticket holder) he says he's pretty decent on the floor, composed, but not much cop in the air at the moment, and thats playing against the shite in that league,I think it be better to ease him in this season, and the first game v Lambert at WBA might not be an ideal starter for him

Mind you in saying that if VK don't sort himself out we might have no option

How much have Denayer and Mangala played together?
Not sure that matters as much as people would think. How many times have the Mangler and Komps played together, yet they still look like they've only just met. Something needs doing with the centre of the defence. And Denayer has looked composed when he's played. Pitch him in.

He is alot better in the air than many on here think. And the physical game in the SPL taught him alot. Some of the strikers are just big lumps so he had to deal with that. He wins most of his headers and it doesn't hinder the team that bad when he doesnt.

If we're worrying about Lambert then we could well be in some trouble. Get him played, he'll have played against better than Lambert in Scotland.

I know what you mean,I was just looking at him as an example as he gonna be trying to impress in first game thats for sure

I only saw the first 20 minutes of the second half, and he looked far better than Vinny did in the first 45. He looks ready to me, and I wouldn't hesitate to give him the boost right away. We can manage him through the season, but give him the first game, and see how he goes, I think he'll do fine, and looked a better partner for Mangala, who spent the first 45 minutes doing his own job, and baby sitting the captain.

He was so confident and relaxed on the ball even under the pressure that Sagna constantly put him under, the most impressive player in the second half.

Surprisingly, I think starting Denayer against West Brom is less of a risk than starting Kompany.

People might say today was only a pre-season friendly, but it was a week before the season starts and it was shambolic. We cannot start with that defence next week.

He's good enough to start now

Vinny looks the same as last year, rash and not much composure

We need calm at the back, vinny and mangler together doesn't give us that

I did and it was chaotic but dropping VK for the opening league match would be a different order of chaos.
We don't have to drop him. Mangala and Denayer looked a miles better partnership in the second half. We are clearly struggling for a def mid for WBA. Put Vinnie DM and all is OK. Simples!!

You play players on form, not reputation, and on form he's not. Denayer is coming off a very good season, and should be rewarded for it, we can manage him through the season, he doesn't have to start every week, but there's no reason why not to start him next week, he's in form and confident, the complete opposite of Vinny.

Put Vinnie DM and all is OK.
He hasn't played that role for 4 or 5 years, so he won't be doing it next week in a crucial game, if there was any chance of that happening they would have tried it second half today, the fact Vinny was taken off tells you all you need to know about him playing DM next week.
