Post match thread - City v Chelsea

He gave him a decent dig, it has to be said. I don't think it was deliberate (though only Fern can answer that) so, for me, a yellow card was correct.
If it was deliberate then Dinho deserves a pat on the back. That prize **** deserved it.

The thing that best sums up today's performance for me is that I've heard/read comments by people in which every one of our outfield players has been judged to be the man of the match. They were all brilliant. Even Hart made a crucial save at 1-0 and commanded his area well.

Sagna and Kolarov were as solid a pair of full backs as I've seen today and Kolarov's threat down the left was wonderful, he deserved to have at least one of his delicious crosses converted.

Kompany and Mangala nullified Costa for a second season running, winning battles on the floor and in the air all afternoon, and also offered a threat from our offensive set pieces in Chelsea's box.

Fernandinho swept up brilliantly. He gives away his share of free kicks (although Chelsea's theatrics and Atkinson's incompetence contributed hugely to this) but he always seems to know where to draw the line and his finish for the third goal was a belter.

Yaya looked hungry and full of desire today, throwing his weight around, winning headers and slide tackles and made Matic and Fabregas look amateurish.

Sterling and Navas are a wonderful combination for our wings. Not only do they give us the option to counter with pace, but they make the opposition full backs think twice before going forward.

Silva is just a genius, he pivots on a sixpence, he picks passes others haven't even seen and his touch is sublime, another masterclass from Merlin.

Aguero could have had five in all honesty, but we'll put that down to early season rustiness. His finish was sublime, the touch, the balance and the speed all a joy to watch. Forcing Mourinho to substitute his captain and leader for the first time in his career his no mean feat.

Add to this an atmosphere like we've not had for a long time, with a fantastic new stand and a 5 point lead over our rivals and it makes for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.

I'm impressed with Kolorav so far. I mean he still has his problems with faster players as usual, but his left foot is back! Resigning him was a smart move, I think.

He gave him a decent dig, it has to be said. I don't think it was deliberate (though only Fern can answer that) so, for me, a yellow card was correct.

He led with his elbow and did give Costa a clout 80) it was 100% correct and it was a definite yellow... it could easily have been red had it been another ref and we would have bitched.

As it happens the correct decision was given and the damage to Costa was done. Well done Fenandinho, well done Atkinson.

Anyone got a gif of the elbow? I saw fuck all in 116, but know that Costa isn't one to play act and roll around if there's been no contact.....

Are you saying Costa doesn't dive and roll around? He's probably the one that does it the most in the league, mate. He's an expert at creating tension and temperature, and then go straight down at the slightest touch from the other player. He's a filthy twat.

Am shocked that Chelsea fans are being so realistic, obviously there are a few which are lapping it up and claiming he was right of course.

"It is a fake result. We were the best team by far in the second half. What they did in the first we did in the second.

"We dominated and when they feel they are in trouble, and they felt, they changed Aguero and Sterling, they try to recover control of the game is exactly when they scored the second goal. For me, completely fake".

i'm sorry but such an ignorant stupid comment by jose

sometimes i wish he would just shut up and accept that we're completely outplayed top to bottom

Ramires was offside..it was the right call.

Just seen Jose's comments. Very, very rarely that I disagree with the man, but he's talking absolute nonsense about the second half.

The way he was rambling on about Citeh bringing on Demichelis, was sort of mocking, i was squirming when he was speaking like that with shreeves, in Joses book we should of drew 1-1, cos hazard cost us 2 points...embrassing interview!!

I thought the back four won us that game. Stifling Hazard absolutely killed Chelsea's game plan. Costa is another Dzeko in that he needs someone to do his work for him, so that nullified him. Meanwhile, Mangala & Kolarov push up and allow Aleks and Raheem to give Fabregas and Matic fits before they even got to Ivanovic. All of this left a ton of space for the rest of our team to murder them.

On a side note, I think today showed why Nasri is surplus to requirements. Look at the fluid speed we play with when he isn't in there. The days of slow and patient seem to be gone.

The silly sod claimed that terry is finished at chelsea because he was subbed then argued with souness and Henry about it in a quite bizarre fashion, I don't think he is the brightest pundit out there

You are aware there's plenty of us Irish about and we take great offence to what you said, right?
