The thing that best sums up today's performance for me is that I've heard/read comments by people in which every one of our outfield players has been judged to be the man of the match. They were all brilliant. Even Hart made a crucial save at 1-0 and commanded his area well.
Sagna and Kolarov were as solid a pair of full backs as I've seen today and Kolarov's threat down the left was wonderful, he deserved to have at least one of his delicious crosses converted.
Kompany and Mangala nullified Costa for a second season running, winning battles on the floor and in the air all afternoon, and also offered a threat from our offensive set pieces in Chelsea's box.
Fernandinho swept up brilliantly. He gives away his share of free kicks (although Chelsea's theatrics and Atkinson's incompetence contributed hugely to this) but he always seems to know where to draw the line and his finish for the third goal was a belter.
Yaya looked hungry and full of desire today, throwing his weight around, winning headers and slide tackles and made Matic and Fabregas look amateurish.
Sterling and Navas are a wonderful combination for our wings. Not only do they give us the option to counter with pace, but they make the opposition full backs think twice before going forward.
Silva is just a genius, he pivots on a sixpence, he picks passes others haven't even seen and his touch is sublime, another masterclass from Merlin.
Aguero could have had five in all honesty, but we'll put that down to early season rustiness. His finish was sublime, the touch, the balance and the speed all a joy to watch. Forcing Mourinho to substitute his captain and leader for the first time in his career his no mean feat.
Add to this an atmosphere like we've not had for a long time, with a fantastic new stand and a 5 point lead over our rivals and it makes for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.
