Post match thread - City v Chelsea

We look so much better without the high line defending that was a characteristic of last season. All of a sudden our defenders look like they are quality players again.

Well done all round to the manager and players. Excellent performance and a cracking atmosphere.

sterling looked very timid and nervous. seems as though he doesn't want to mess up with the likes of aguero, silva, yaya and co. as his teammates. I can't wait till he gets comfortable and just settles down

I'm talking about the same two instances. Ffs no keeper on earth stands a chance when Kun puts them in the corner like he did with the first and Courtois isn't exactly the quickest to get down, is he? As for Vinny's when they go in off the post like that it's silly to say any keeper would have saved them.

Begovic has been one of the league's top keepers for the last 5 seasons and while Courtois might have a higher ceiling he's not definitively better at the moment, he's weak in the air, slow to get down and flaps at crosses, he handed us an equaliser with both hands at Stamford Bridge last season in case you've forgotten. Chelsea weren't handicapped by their goalkeeper today. They were handicapped by being technically, physically, mentally and tactically inferior in every area of the pitch outfield.
I agree with everything you said.

really? I thought he ripped Ivanovic a new one

Don't underestimate the difference sterling made to the team today. To have his pace on the left and navas on the right made Chelsea approach the game in a different way. And the first time sterling got around in ivanovich they started doubting themselves. That's what he brings to the team. So impressed today with how the team raised in every department and it was down to a twin sided lightning quick attack.

Exactly this. Just the threat of Sterling creates more space for everyone else, especially Silva. And Silva with space is devestating. We did this against arguably (supposedly) the best defence in the league. Imagine what we will do against lesser sides and when everyone is up to speed. Amazing to think about.

OK fair enough thought it was about starting a which hunt?

Bwahahahah Costa put on his arse couldn't make me happier
Good God, certainly not a witch hunt. Some journo on Twatter just posted that Aguero spent all game running around, and trying to score goals, whereas Costa spent all game trying to win free kicks and pick fights! The **** should have been booked for diving as well. He's suited to Mourinho.

Total football right across the board from the entire team. Even Joe who, in reality, had very little to do, pulled off a brilliant save at the end as if to take the piss. Every last player really good. Wasn't able to be there, but the noise on the telly was huge, made me really proud to be a blue sat in a pub full of chav fans.

Just having Sterling on the pitch has given Silva that extra yard he needs to rip teams apart, he is exactly the player we needed and if Chelsea can't cope with it not sure who in the English game can

That was the best atmosphere in the Etihad I can remember. At times there was a wall of sound and it went right round the stadium. Well done City for working out was was needed. And well done to all of us. Today is right up there as one of the most exciting and noisy days at that stadium.

Completely agree. Even the threat of Sterling is creating problems for people. Worth every penny if things stay open like this.
