Otamendi or Kompany to DM as needed and let Fernando and DeMichelis go (only to make the 17).

Oh and I tweeted Mangala so we should be ok. ;-)

I was told the other day that Mendes was proposing this but nobody I spoke to today seemed to know about Mangala leaving.

Lopes would seem plausible and much more acceptable in my opinion.

Taking into consideration his current contract situation, wouldn't we essentially be giving them Lopes if loaned?

I cant see him leaving either but then that would mean one top centre back sitting on the bench a lot.
The best CL teams rotate more than 2 starting quality centre backs, we need to as well if we want to get up to that level. Have someone world class to bring on if Vinny pulls a hamstring or someone gets sent of in the first leg of a last 16 game. Strength in depth.

Over 60 games a season, it shouldn't be a problem to get them all lots of game time.

Funny thing about all this is a week ago, possibly even 12 hours ago, many people would've taken the deal IF Mangala is indeed going. One quality performance later, admittedly in addition to the Baggies game, and the hysteria ensues. For the record I like Mangala & always have, but IF he's going on loan the club clearly have a plan. Let them see it through without slagging off the club you all claim to support.

Didn't you want him gone last season??? (:

Told you, he's the next desaily....
I think he's improved and want to see more. Obviously it wouldn't be productive for the team if we shipped off players just as they start to settle and look to have a good understanding with teammates.
Plus we need three top drawer centre backs. If Vincent gets an injury we need to be able to cope without him. IMO Otamendi covers the potential fazing it of demichelis and stops a potential move to rag country

Just don't understand this signing at all.

How are we supposed to create a partnership with the defence when we keep changing them every season.

Also ironic how nearly every non-City fan is shitting bricks at this signing, in tandem with De Bruyne, whilst certain City fans are throwing a strop. Bizarre.

If we are having Silva, Sterling and De Bruyne in the first eleven with Nasri and Navas as rotational options it would make sense to let Lopes go on loan.

Mangala just tweeted
'2games, 2wins 2 clean sheets I Iike it!'
'I am a citizen I never give up'
#motivated, #never give up #MCFC

I know conventional wisdom is that you want to play a settled back line at all times possible, but I am wondering if three CB rotation for the two slots would be a preferable approach at a club like City that is going to hit that 60 competitive game mark most seasons. Real Madrid carry three top calibre CBs, obviously.

But why Mangala would need to go on loan? Still don't see how that helps us particularly. Unless the club wants to free another foreign spot for two incoming signings and Mangala comes back to take the Demi slot next year?
