With Demichelis likely leaving next summer it makes sense to bring him in now while he's available as he'll push Kompany and Mangala even harder.

Obviously the main worry is if it hampers Denayer and his development

I think MDM (I keep writing his name like that as I know it annoys some on here) should be the one to make way if we do sign him. Done a good job last 2 years but i'd rather he left than Denayer on loan.

Haha, I just find it bizarre we're after a top rate centre back when we have 4 of them. I personally think the deal hinged on the mangala deal and now, with him staying, I don't see any room for him here

I think he'll stay and be our fifth choice centre back and central midfielder, and a popular and experienced leader in the squad.
