Not sure playing anone so much out of form will result in success. I would give Vinnie a rest, like Joe got when his form dropped
But nobody is in or out of form because no real games have been played yet. All pre-season games are, are souped up full-sided training sessions on a full sized pitch to promote the club abroad. Absolutely nothing should be read into them with regards to results performances or form.

Look at Arsenal last season. They had a great pre-season, they thumped us at Wembley, everyone was talking them up because of their "form" from the pre-season games yet they just scraped through in the 92nd minute to beat Palace in their first Prem game, then drew their next three games, and after 8 games they'd only won 2 and nobody was talking them up at all anymore, all the hype had disappeared.

Pre-season means nothing.

wasting your time...you won't get through....it'll be the same next summer too....

A great highlight reel, his runs from the back are incredible, so composed and incisive. What a talent we have on our hands!

A very good video.

Jason is certainly very comfortable with the ball at his feet and he has a great long-range pass.

I am really excited about what JD will offer us in the future. He really does seem to have it all, apart from experience, of course, but that can only come with time and minutes on the pitch.

Would like to see him start on Monday next to Kompany, could be a balanced pairing, and bring on Mangala at 60 minutes once the game has calmed down (and hopefully we are winning) 8)

French media think he's going on loan to Marseille.
They sold more than half of their first team players this summer, Bielsa also left them.
Not the best situation for a young player but if he can handle the pressure there, he can handle it anywhere else

For me if he goes out on loan it should be in the Prem and give him experience of the league we will be playing in. Get him playing against Costa, Giroud, Benteke etc, that will give him much better experience than the French league. He goes to the French league for a year and we dont really learn a great deal. Hart going to Birmingham is the perfect example. Tested at the level we wanted him and then into the first team.

SSN reporting City have indicated Denayer available for loan and has had offers from England, Europe and Turkey. He won't be returning to Celtic.

Just hope it's a one year loan and then replaces Martin the following season. I was hoping he would stay as 4th choice and Martin moved on.

L'quipe saying this morning that he's going to Marseille. He's agreed to join them and they're now negotiating a loan with City. Would be a good move for him. Ideally he would've gone to a PL club for a year but as an alternative Marseille is good.

I hate this crap the lad needs playing time at man city he can be a great player but the club see it other wise
a loan will only show the lad is in the shop window and not going to make it at man city but this will come back to bite us on the bum he can be a world class player in the next 2 years and I can see the top clubs wanting him

Better to be first choice on loan at another PL club than 4th choice here IMO.

Stoke and Southampton are both after Virgil Van Dyke, his old CB partner from Celtic. Denayer could go to whoever loses out (probably Stoke). Hughes has got them playing nice football and they should be top 10.

I'm not sure I agree. They seem to be in turmoil and they don't really have an experienced defender for him to learn from. I'd like to see us push really hard to find him a Premier League loan, eve if we have to pay all of his wages, I think it will be much more beneficial to him.

He's not better than anybody else we have in his position.

Young Player of Year in Scotland, a player this makes not.

Guidetti tore it up in both Holland and at Celtic park, some barometers are better than others.

The centre-half position takes years of dedication and refining, similarly to a goalkeeper.

Some of these kids need to realise they are at Manchester City, and we are doing them an enormous favour, giving them a fabulous degree of legitimacy and grounding.

Would the likes of Lopes and Denayer be demanding to be given first-team football at Real Madrid or Barcelona? No, they would think better of it, and know their place.

Why should it be any different at out club, one which is now one of the most relevant in world football?

Denayer needs to prove his credentials and learn from his mistakes in a league and a team where he will be given that breathing space.

We can't afford to do that. If he or anyone else isn't willing to be patient, then we don't need them.

All very true mate but I would like to see more youngsters given game time in the cups, especially the Carling Cup (or whatever it's called these days).

Quality post - he clearly has a lot of potential but you couldn't put him in over any of our four centre backs currently.

A loan move to a premiership club would be perfect.

I want academy players to come through and shine for the club as much as anyone but not at the expense of our success. It has to be done at the right time.

That was the attitude at Utd with pogba!

I want to win the cups. We have quality players who all need to be placated with cup football, who are all more deserving, better-paid, more talented, than anything we've got coming through at present, outside of Iheanacho.

These kids are only going to prove their credentials playing every week at decent clubs in decent leagues.

Only then, will we be more informed to decide whether the time has come for them to be afforded the final step.

I'm not saying Denayer won't make it, but he's got far too many steps to make, before City expose him to the level we are at.

We have done well to get him on a long-term deal, so we are covered whether he does well somewhere else or throws a hissy fit.
