People think we got the group of death, here's my take on our group...
From watching La Liga/Europa League last season Sevilla are a neat little side and will punish us if we're below par but if we have realistic ambitions to win this tournament then we should be seeing them off, perhaps comfortably.
PSV ,CSKA and Wofsburg will be far from a cakewalk for the ragsAgreed. There won't be any breathers, but there also won't be any matches where we think a draw is a relief either. Frankly I'm pleased -- great to see us up against some new clubs. Probably more pissed at the cakewalks handed the rags and Chelsea than anything TBH.
Ha Ha!Denis Suarez last minute winner to take Sevilla to the last 16???
I disagree. The other three will take points off each other. We have never had a better chance of finishing top of our group mSevilla have won the Europa League, 2 years on the bounce, so know how to win in Europe, they won't be easy at all. Gladbach aren't anything special, but when you consider the alternatives (BATE, Gent, Astana, Zagreb, Tel Aviv & Malmo) it's certainly tougher than we would have wanted.
HaI wonder if the most unpopular man in German football will come to the Etihad?
Y'know the Borussia Monchengladbach supporter who tries to get a chant going by shouting "give us a B"
Sevilla are back to back Europa League winners. It'll be extremely tough.
The rest of the group WILL be more worried than us.
Have they maybe also got a sniff off taking points off Juve too then?
next year when we win the league and become a pot 1 sideWhilst Gladbach are nothing too special it's reaching the point now where it's harder and harder to explain away our ability to draw tough pot 4 sides as just blind bad luck. 5 seasons in the Champion's League and, Plzen aside, we've always got either the toughest, or one of the toughest, pot 4 sides. Whilst others get sides from Romania, Belgium, Denmark, Israel, Belarus etc we've had Roma, Gladbach, Dortmund and Napoli. When does luck give way to the confusing, convoluted, and easily riggable manner in which TV pairings and the like are conducted behind closed doors?
