Some pisshead once famously used the phrase "not in my lifetime" and it came back to haunt him in the worst possible way. He was the leader of a cult of muppets who like to shout "20".

So this morning I get to thinking, how long before that, that last rod the rags wave will be taken from their grasp and us mighty blues start saying "21"?

I have zero doubt we will pass that mark in my lifetime, and then, and only then will I depart for the pearly gates.

So blues, think about it. Factor in Chelsea winning titles, factor in Arsenal rising again. Factor in Liverpool fluking a title win...actually I've taken it too far there. Factor in a random team winning a title long before the dippers.

So, for fun and giggles lets play Mystic Mal here and predict it...how long before we have lifted the title 21 times?

30 years

Nice phrase though.
Maybe we can get a plane & a banner to go over the swamp with :-

LVG please DONT leave in your lifetime

Funnily enough they've been debating this on Red Cafe! One guy basically said his nightmare was to live to see us pass them in league title wins. Interestingly most of them thought it would take 30+ years but was quite possible.

I see us and Chelsea leaving the rest behind over coming years and making it a two-horse league unless the others get their houses in shape pronto, the rags are signing second rate players with an outdated manager, Liverpool play decent football at times but I can't think of a single Rodgers team that has ever been able to defend, and Arsenal just don't sign anyone.

The Youth final last year was City/Chelsea, the Women's game is now City/Chelsea, the premier league is City/Chelsea and it is no coincidence.

With money to invest you get the best of everything off the pitch too such as scouts etc, and players in years to come who want to win trophies know (as in Scotland, Spain, Germany etc.) that you really only have a choice of two teams.

I'm not saying the rags, Arsenal and dippers will go away, they will just become also-rans like Liverpool have been for 20 years, so they will still attract decent players, but the very best will want to play for us or Chelsea.

These three are already playing catch-up imo, and if anything the gap is growing not the other way round, so as I say unless they sort themselves out to genuniely threaten at the top within the next two or three years I think they will, like Liverpool, find themselves so far behind in all aspects it will take years to get back to threatening us and Chelsea. The increase in revenue coming in to the league should help these clubs, but if it is like this summer and they blow it on second rate players, or do a Wenger and don't sign anyone, they won't see us for dust, we aren't going away any time soon.

Everyone seems to think around the 30+ year mark, so by that reasoning I "might" make it to see that earth shattering moment but will be around 80yo, also wonder if I'll be able to equal or possibly eclipse our wonderful blue centurion from the other day, be pretty cool.

It won't happen in my lifetime so its not relevant to me. I'd much rather go to my grave knowing they'd never won another one between now and then.

I think people are mad believing United will never come back to be a force. Eventually they will get the right investment there, unfortunately it's too big a club not to.

But for now, I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts and if we can get to 10 league titles asap I'll be happy. Win it this year and we go level with Chelsea again on 5. They've only been a force for ten years and we have a stronger history so we should focus on them and other rivals like Arsenal and Spurs and let United do the self-imploding!

Agree but they won't be the dominant force they were under the pisscan but think they will find it harder to get to the point where they actually win a premier league title within the next 5 years at least

Seems a weird thread to me. Who's to say we'll ever do it. A league title was unimaginable 10 years ago, and a second title just 2 seasons later was astounding, but perhaps we might never win another again. Yes, it would be disappointing, but to really have the arrogance to think we'll still dominate the game in 30 years seems quite daft!

I'd go for something like the year 2051, maybe longer, maybe never.

But I'm far more concerned about getting to 10 and get ahead of the rest and just have the three evil red clubs ahead of us.

If we get to 10, maybe we can then look at chathing Arsenal's 13, but 10 is the number I'm hungry for for now.

Id love to be at 10 leagues 10 FA Cups and 1 Champions League in my lifetime.

I'm 16 so I hope to have another 80 years left in me! ;-)
The life expectancy of people your age is going to come a long way down from what it is now because of societies appalling diets. So if you live to 96, well done to you lad!
