Post Match Thread: City v Juventus

The big fuck up was Nasri for Navas. We missed his pace on the right and Nasri was just far too slow on the ball. Really boring peformance.

Anyone wonder why we've lost a majority of our home CL matches?

Here's an experiment: Watch Malaga vs. Dortmund in Germany, then watch tonight's match. Pay special attention to the crowds. One set of supporters are doing whatever they can to back their team, the other set are afraid to upset the librarian. I've never heard 54,000 people gather together and make almost no noise whatsoever.

It's no more a home match for our squad than when we go to the away matches. If you aren't hoarse after that match, you failed your team.
Were you there by any chance?

Because it's something we will not tolerate on here, people sat behind there keyboards slagging off match going blues

Fern was excellent.

They took their chances and we didn't and wasted ours. Pretty much it.

Sterling has got to realise that almost scoring because you have got yourself in a good position is not enough. He's a good player but he cost us the game.

The PL is shite. The same players that look competent in one are not fit for purpose in the CL.

Having said all that we should be able to get out of this. KdB will be up to speed soon, Nasri can fuck off as far as I am concerned.

Our formation and overall style is just too open for savvy Euopean clubs. When we tightened up a bit like the Roma game last year, we are fine. We need to learn faster than this.

Same lazy midfield (Ferny aside) out of possession-contrast with Juve who defended as a team and ran as hard without the ball at the end as they did at the start of the game. We cannot play a midfield of Silva, Nasri and Yaya at this level but we've said the same thing for several years.

Can we stop booing the CL anthem, yes uefa are cunts but it sets the tone for the evening in my opinion.
KDB had to start we had fuck all width or pace down the right hand side, Nasri is back up for Sterling and Silva only, Navas over him on the right all day long if KDB isn't going to play. Fernandinho was brilliant today, thought Bony did ok considering we're really not playing to his strengths but expecting him to get a hammering from some quarters.

bony very poor

Kolorov - just takes up the space the attacking left sided (more talented) players want to go into (very noticeable when KDB came on) - plus AK again piss poor defending for the second goal...he didn't have a clue where the ball was when the long punt was sent down field.

disappointing in the fact that we were nowhere near played off the park or dominated as we have been before but we almost seemed scared to go at them like we do in the perm league

still loads of time to hopefully get it right and qualify but the players need to stop being scared (plus we need a bit of luck with injuries)

i agree about the pairing of nasri and silva BUT not with your opinion on Navas...he is as frustrating as Bony if not more so

1st half we were OK. Not sure what happened in the 2nd half but we were off the pace right from the kick-off.

Overall profligate in front of goal, and still lacking the hard, ruthless cutting-edge we need to succeed in this tournament.

I am going to go against the majority.....

I thought we played well against last years finalists of this comp. And that without either Aguero or a fit silva ( arguably our 2 most influential players ). Added to which we lost or captain and defensive organiser during the game.

It is good to be tested in sport.....not just win win win....

I actually enjoyed that we came up against a team that provided some questions for us....sure I would have loved us to answer them with 4 goals, but today we didn't - that's sport.

Dust ourselves down, analyse how we can improve...move on.
A level headed post at last

Fernandinho, I have to praise this man, ever since he's been here, he's been sensational, 100% every game, top man. Could also do with a time machine and go into the future and pluck out an older Patrick Roberts, we could do with someone Who'll just attack, attack, attack.

Slow build up play + nervous crowd. The Champions League!!!

Frustrated - yes. Too slow in attack - Sterling should have scored -2 mins. Nasri slowed the play down. We can moan all we like but they are experienced in CL.
Their defence was fast into the tackle . Closed us down on the wings.Their second goal was an absolute beauty - but where was out 2 central defenders.
Juve certainly did not deserve to lose - they were more street savvy.
Seville will spank us at their place. We need to finish second in this group to progress. So City please correct all the faults.
City aren't exactly new to the champions league at this stage, Napoli were new to the champions league when we went against them same with Dortmund who had a long spell out of it and most of there players had less champs league experience than city's but they adapted quickly. Time for excuses should be over at this stage
