Did he mean that goal? Was it scuffed and a fluke? If he meant to hit it like that, then that was a really great goal. When he puts the afterburners on and runs at the defence he is brilliant. Think he'd be better centrally than wide right but we have Silva. How lucky we are

All you ask yourself is did he go for that ball to score a goal if he did it was a worldly doesn't matter it he miss hit it, for me he went for that ball to score so it was a worldly...

He knew where the ball had to go to score a goal and he did just that, was a great goal.

Takes something away if he scuffed it. Although Rooney scuffed one off his shin and got Goal of the Season

The lads got the gift of vision and eyes in the back of his head, carnt really think who i can compare him too, there's not bin many.

That pass for Sergios fifth was pure genius.
This kind of (low) cross, is really his trademark.

The thing is: most players would control the ball that Silva gives, go to their right foot, and try to outdribble their opponents or lay the ball back. What De Bruyne does, is he takes the risk and just puts the ball in front of goal with his left foot as quick as possible, so that the defenders do not have time to react. The striker, Agüero, is first to the ball because he DOES know that De Bruyne will do this.

Especially at Wolfsburg (but also at Genk, Bremen, national team) he got a lot of assists like this. Just, out of nowhere, putting the low cross in towards the 6 yards box, surpising everyone, including the goalkeeper. If I was the goalkeeper, I would watch a compilation of De Bruyne and anticipate to this, but apparently the crosses (with right AND left) are always just too good.

Sadly not. He admitted in his post match interview that he didn't catch it properly and got a bit of luck.

Fairly humble and honest from him, compare it to the granny shagger lapping up the praise for his shinner a few years ago.

I find that answer is misinterpreted quite a lot!

It was only his timing to get a fuller contact on a flighted ball that was nano seconds out.

He MEANT the attempt, he just WANTED to sledge hammer it in!

Yes, it's great how many of his key passes are first touches. He doesn't waste a second on the ball.

This guy is a real team player.
Brilliant range of passing.
Lots of one touch stuff.
Has added speed and incisiveness to our team much more than Sterling who must be just a little worried about his spot in the starting 11.
He could go on to be the Colin Bell of our times (and possibly more!)

Good point - spot on. He is a joy to watch.

His two assists were phenomenal really. You can see why he's Europe's assist king. We need our strikers to gamble a lot more. That wasn't the first time De Bruyne has fed in a perfect cross in between keeper and defence, but every other time there was nobody trying to get on the end of it. Hopefully now that Aguero has received a confidence boost, he will continue to gamble like he did for his 5th. De Bruyne will put the ball there all day long.

Would be interesting to see how a 433 would work. Something like this:

Fernando - Toure - Fernandinho

Silva - Aguero - De Bruyne

The 2 Ferns providing protection allowing Yaya to get forward more with Merlin and KDB in behind Kun. The width would have to come primarily from the fullbacks (Zaba and Aleks) but if we become too narrow then we have Navas and Sterling on the bench to add a different dimension to our attack.

Playing Yaya almost as a 10 does not work any more. Forget about it! Silva and De Bruyne are dangerous there because they are always moving to the space. Yaya can't do that. He's better playing deeper with time on the ball to dictate. But he's vulnerable even there because of his lack of defending. We have two of the best number 10s in world football, and you are advocating playing neither of them at number 10!
