Smoking

So, it begins. Once they have stopped the smokers where do you think the PC gestapo will strike next. Alcohol ? Bad for health, the smell on clothes, bad breath. People sneeking into bogs for a quick sip of a flask. Others complaining that secondary fumes can harm children. Then it will be certain foods.
The only good thing about banning all these things is that I don't end up like a jack in the box before and after half time with people having to get their fixes. Hope they find a way to ban car fumes then no one will need to leave early.

Anothet totally missing the point.

1. drinking alcohol only affects the drinkers health
2. You'd be pissed off if there were no H&S laws to protect you from Asbestos exposure. YOu would be pissed off if someone threw asbestos fibres in your face every day - THATS WHY THERE ARE LAWS TO DEAL WITH IT
3. People are punished by the law for dangerous driving. If someone drove into your family you would expect the law to deal with them
4. Fat people only kill themselves

So, your points are not valid. Smoking in public places AFFECTS OTHERS

Agree 100%

And let me tell you this, Ducado hasn't just stumbled upon one of, if not THE most heinous crime to ever be committed to print. No, I have seen worse. (Please draw breath, for I know it's hard to understand how anything more sinister, more macabre could occur at a football match attended by grown men). I'm afraid it's worse. Much worse. Last Saturday (for it was then) I saw someone smoking one of those "spliff" things. Shocked to the core I was. Illegal. And what's more, the smoke could have wafted over and into my 7yr old son's synapses, immobilising him for at least a millionth of a billionth of a nanosecond. What has happened to this once great club? The signs say "No Smoking", the PA says, "No Smoking" and yet, and yet, we have men (and I daresay a few recalcitrant women) who just want to cause mayhem on them terraces; who take delight in the carcinogenic terror they wreak on all an sundry. I say, bring back the painted orders that once adorned The Kippax and "commit no nuisance" - those were the days. We sat, mute, hands clasped over mouths for fear of inhaling a whiff of the pipe smoke that had drifted from The Gardeners and by Christ, if anyone sparked up, well, we'd tell 'em.. "Stop. You're running the atmosphere. Literally and metaphorically." I can recall now my first memories of Maine Rd - sullied by smoke. Not for me the roar of The Kippax. Not for me, the madness of The North Stand. No, just smoke, endless smoke. Please, let's no go back there. It will "spoil the atmosphere".

what a gimp

For years we were told of the benefits of smoking. Then we are told of passive smoking. Do you think that one day we will be told of the dangers of passive alcohol fumes. We know there are dangers in diesel fumes but it would be Governmental suicide to ban that, so lets go for the easy option.
Drinking only affects the drinkers health ? Plus the NHS, taxes and ultimately us.I would be as upset about asbestos as I am about religion which has killed more people, but no laws about that. Not all fat people are fat because of over eating.

Your either very imature or have your head in the sand.

No, if i was immature i would be calling other people for being immature and pulling them up for their spelling. I'm a veggie and the smell of meat makes me feel sick but I don't go overboard about people eating Burgers near me.

I am not sure why you are all 'arguing', the bottom line is: Smoking is BANNED. Whether it is good for your health, bad for your health, whatever, it is BANNED!! What part of "smoking is not allowed in the stadium" do people not understand?

Not only are there notices around the stadium concourse but there are also announcements at every match!!

As has been said before - you are missing the point and all your arguments are flawed. I guess you are a lost cause as you lack logic

The point being ? That people can last all game without a ciggy ? Agreed.
Arguments that people can last all game without a drink or food or have to leave early ?
And the logic is ?
A lost cause ? Nope. I support City.

Standing is I think too and that seems to be tolerated in certain areas. Personally I think a smoking area should be established outside the ground so smokers cam go and have a half time cigarette. It happens at other grounds so I'm sure City could find a way of doing it.

If you and the smokers truly believe this, why be furtive about it and sneak off to the bogs? Very reminiscent of the bike sheds when people were 12. Why not just light up in the stand, have a couple on the bus and/or tram and finish off smoking 10 in the pub? Because it's not allowed, that's why. If you accept the last point, that is, it's not allowed, then there is no argument to be had, unless you advocate that the law only applies in certain places? In that case it would seem the law applies everywhere in England, except for a very small part of some lavatories and a bit of spiral walkway in Manchester and that sounds a bit unlikely.

I’m not furtive about smoking. I don’t smoke. I happen to think adults should be able to smoke at the match. And drink. And swear. Otherwise it becomes the sanitised shite that masquerades as “fandom” at Rugby fucking Union. It’s one of the (increasingly) rare opportunities for folk to vent their spleen, have a bevvy and, God forbid, the odd bifter. Getting antsy, uptight, self-righteous and all “it’s the law” bollocks is for the anodyne, Ra-Ra Twickenham lot, not a football crowd in Manchester.

Blokes smoke. At the match. Move on, nothing to see (unless you’re a busy ****).
