FC United thread

Because you enter the competition and agree to abide by the competition rules - one of which states you will be told when to play, not make your own mind up at a time and date convenient to your club / fans.
If they werent on tv they wouldnt be playing on Monday night. They have a choice.

My reading of their statement is that they tried to change the date a "televised" game was on. Which understandably there us less flexibility on.

If they were not selected for TV they would have played on the Saturday or Sunday (the day depending on if we are at home on one of those days)
But they were selected for TV and were informed they were scheduled for Monday evening. End of. No choice.

Don't believe that was the case. They chose to have the game televised. Their alternative was to have the game televised on a different day. If they passed on the tv money they would play on Saturday, but seems to me that wasnt an option they were prepared to consider.

Taken from the statement..... the club had no say in the matter....
FC United has been informed by the FA that our home FA Cup First Round Proper tie against Chesterfield FC has been selected to be broadcast live television and that it will take place on Monday 9 November 2015 with a kick off time of 7.45pm.

When we were informed of this, the FC United board contacted the FA to inform them of our views.......

Statement doesnt make it clear they had no say in the matter. It makes it clear the FA wouldnt consider arranging a televised game on another day.

I'm struggling to understand what bit you are not clear about. You said further up that ''they (assume you meant FCUM) chose to have the game televised'' but didn't want it on a Monday. Can you expand please.

Fairly simple. Say we don't our game to be televised so we can play it on Saturday afternoon like our members want.

But the rules of entry into the competition state if you get picked for TV, you get picked for TV!
Which rule?

I just don't believe that is the case. Most clubs will take the tv money of course. But it is a choice, and they don't tend to preach about principles after it.

Fans set to boycott the entire 1st half of the televised cup tie!

Some Quotes off the FC Fans Forum :

the bag lady -
I'm up for this too,as you say best idea yet.
Anyone got any connections with the national press publicity & all that.

The Board had a choice, play satdy at 3pm & FC fans pay Rochdale's normal price [£18 I think]
or play friday, get Rochdale to reduce their prices & get a bob or two from the telly.

If we'd've played on the satdy I'm sure there'd've been a protest about ticket prices.

Anyway here's a song for Monday night

U N I T E D united are the team for me
with a nik-nak paddy-wack give a dog a bone
Why don't BT shove off home

Another red rebel -
Unfortunately even though I don't agree with our club being forced to move a game against our will, I feel myself moving to your point of view.
It's blatantly obvious that a meaningful boycott will not happen, I feel it's time to seriously explore other options. A couple of hundred of us standing outside may make us feel a little better but hand on heart, it will neither be noticed or make any difference.
What should we do? Sing, shout, anti FA banners or t shirts, I don't know. But what I do know is we need to get our act together and sort something that will be noticed.

Got to laugh at this one because its correct :)

neilboo - 92% voted in favour of something foreseeable, but with no idea of what to do when it happened.

Oi! -
We'll keep the red flag flying high.

Yes while Andy Walsh is shoving the money into the safe lol

fcumdaz -
for fear of repeating...you are hurtling towards everything you were running away from!
what's for sale next? dignity? principle? shirt sponsorship?
my memories are fond... but glad, with principles intact, that i saw this day coming!
how can you support FCUnited and attend a game, rearranged for TV, with a conscience?
Bemused????
Question? If the game had been drawn AWAY, in Torquay e.g, would your answer to the question have been the same?
EMBARRASSED for you!!!

redrebeldes - So why enter a competition where you know the higher up the football pyramid you go because of the club's profile, the more likely your game will be moved for tv.

The vote in 2007 to enter the fucking competition in the first place is the issue here.

And where is this so different from the Rochdale game? Didn't see many boycotting that.

The board have been naive yet again on this with their grandstanding in the media.

YCMIU quite delusional really some of them

Do clubs have to enter once they reach a certain level in the pyramid?
Ignore the pondlife doing a runner in 2000 as the FA encouraged them hoping it might lead to FIFA looking favourably at a WC bid.
