Villa Vs City Post Match Thread

Yes i more or less said the same in another post on the game. The trouble is when you have that sort of talent on the field as a manager you know any one of them could turn the game in a moment,so are reluctant to change it,unfortunately today it didn't happen.
I don't think enough people are willing to accept that Tuesday night's performance took a huge effort, both physically and mentally, add into that a fighting desperate Villa, willing to die for the cause.

I took a very good defensive performance as a positive from it, too many look at league tables and just assume it'll be 3,4,5-0, football doesn't and never has worked that way, just like last Saturday, last season we'd have probably lost that, instead we have 4 points from 2 games, and in between put in one of our greatest performances ever, something that took a huge effort mentally and physically.

Crisis it isn't.

we didn't win because we wasted 70mins of the game by not getting on the front foot against a team low on confidence that offered fuck all goin forward, why I don't know but if we had attacked from the off and got a goal they would have folded and we would have prob won by 3 or 4, why sit back against a team that had no attacking threat I don't know, it was similar to the derby game and we would have won that if we showed more desire, very poor after the way we played against seville

Unlucky today, another day we would have won 0-4', today I see it as a point gained rather than 2 lost.
We are still top of the league, we can't put 5 or 6 past teams every time.
Can't believe some are questioning Manuel , that's just absurd.
Liverpool next let's roar the lads on for 3 points, hope Raheem gets a hat trick.
Have faith , top of the league in 2 league tables and in the quarters of the carling cup, onwards and upwards.

Whilst that may be true, their record subsequent to an opening day win at Bournemouth read p.10, w 0, d 1, l 9. Today they managed just 3 attempts at goal (with zero on target) in 90 minutes. Their new manager has had the grand total of 5 days to work with them. Piss poor was just my lazy description of Villa, but even being more considered you'd be hard pushed to find a worse outfit in the Premier League at this moment in time. Whatever the circs though, that was 2 points pissed away today

The new manager has, quite rightly, organised the defence. He knew they couldn't beat us so he has to stop us. He didn't really - it's just that our finishing was poor today. Shit happens

Did very little in the first hour and paid for it.

Too many fans complaining about not being able to get a beer, unlike every other away game there when we have not been able to get a beer. How do these new fans get tickets?

Pellegrini got the changes all wrong for me, glaringly so.

To show such a lack of faith in Kelechi is really disappointing. He was the obvious change when Bony went off.

Made no sense to bring Navas on further contesting the midfield and playing without a recognised striker when we had a very promising young one on the bench. Meant we had to play one of our biggest attacking threats out of position as well.

Madness, as far as I'm concerned.

Have we all calmed down yet? It was a shite performance and Pellers did fail to make the required changes in time but having just watched the Arse make a pigs ear of going top, we need to get things into perspective. We were shit in front of goal but at least we were solid at the back and we kept another clean sheet. I think the reality is that this group of players are prone to these lapeses in performance but most importantly they generally deliver. Winning a title is rarely a walk in the park but I am convinced we will be CHAMPIONS! So it is ok to to be pissed off with today's performance but let's rein in it in with the "sack the lot of them" talk.

an amateur practices something until he or she gets it right - a proper professional practices until they never get it wrong
Finishing today was amateur sadly and more work needed on the training ground- it could have been three or four and should have been

Just wish that for one season, we can truly show how superior we are to everyone else and absolutely walk this league. It seems we'll always give others a chance with our record of injuries and results like today
Yeah I know, depresses me that does.

Ha ha yes of epic proportions! As you say football isn't that simple today was always going to be tough for all the reasons you mention.Looking at the rest of the results it wasn't a disaster, the rags and Leicester made some ground up on is but that's about it.

I find it strange some on here are slagging off Villa fan's for giving them a standing ovation, for them it was a great point nobody expected.I remember when we beat Chelsea 1-0 when they had a mult million pound team and we all took the piss out of moan a lot's coat.Totally unexpected and it felt so good, that is how it was for the Villa fan's today.

yep, should have brought the kid on for bony and later on navas on for de bruyne who didn't have a good game today

As someone stated earlier in this thread, there was really no need to set up as we had against Sevilla, with both Ferns in the side.

If it was obvious to people like me, who have never played football in their life that Villa would provide very little attacking threat, why wasn't it to MP and his staff?
