Better than last year

Agree we in a great position at this point of the season especially with having 2 of our best players out for a length of time. We all know city kick on after christmas
I'm really not sure that's true. Everyone used to say it about the rags, even though the stats proved they were on average worse in the 2nd half of the season. City absolutely capitulated after Christmas last year. There's no correlation at all to support what you're saying!

Don't think we're 150m better
Silva, Debryne, Stirling and Aguero have played together ONCE. Otamendi has been outstanding. Far to early to say we are not 150 mil better. Good job we spent money on those players or else we wont be where we are now - thats TOP of both leagues just incase people have forgotten!!!

Shame we haven't got you to make better ones given your experience in these matters.

Have you tried contacting the City "Powers To Be" and offering your services?

JJ

Just an opinion, like yours mate. After viewing the MP thread I'm not alone with this opinion.

You can answer that by reading your last point again. Any team would play below the squad's level when their two best players are injured.

Fair point but we did spend circa 135M on 3 first team players who have been regulars, so I'd expect that to be a decent offset.

Because players are human beings it's very rarely they hit the ground running, far too many people assume that all you have to do is buy a player and they slot directly into the team, it's one of the most embarrassing things about this forum sometimes. It used to be bad on here after a loss, now anything less than an outright victory gets the mouth foamers and flappers out in full force, all I can say is that for the first time the opinions on here are not shared by most match going and long term City fans, the reaction to yesterday’s game has been shameful

Far and away better then last year, Seville at home and Spurs away (second half) are the only 2 games the opposition have looked better then us and one of them we won. We have signed very good players in Sterling, KDB and Otamendi, last seasons signings seem to be improving as well Fernando, Sagna, Mangler (although his form was good towards the end of last season). Ferndinho seems to have recovered from his post world cup blues as well and Kompany seems to have recaptured his form.

The other side we have had injuries full backs, Kompany, Silva, Aguero which have effected the team and we are too reliant on Yaya and I don't think he can play the number of games we require without his preformance dropping (although there seems reluctence to rest him).

For me we are the only team out of the 3 challenging who could run away with it. I can't see anyone pulling away from us but if we can get that good set of results, which I think is acheivable if Aguero gets up to speed quickly and has a period of sharp fittness.

By the end of the season I'm confident everyone will be saying "better than last year".

Hopefully all the new lads will be up to speed, as well as and Kun and Dave back, then the transfer investment will really be paying off. We'll be using squad depth for rotation and additional options instead of enforced injury cover.

Also, despite the odd lapse, there are signs that MP is showing more flexibility. With the right mindset we can put together a run that will smash the competition.

I would say the 3 I'm referring to have hit the ground, Sterling, KDB and Otemendi. Fans are human beings as well and can go over the top when we win or lose, not sure why people get so wound up over a post on a forum.

Err the points gained second half of the season is the proof

Some truth in that, with the signing we made I thought it ticked all the boxes but we haven't kicked on. I've got an awful feeling we're going to go deep in all the Cup competitions, probably win one but miss out on the league due poor decision making from Pelle.

Agree, let's bin the cups and go for the league. Jesus

Isn't this feeling just because we started so well, won 5 in a row, broke the club record for wins in a row etc. and now we've had 2 defeats and 2 draws in 6 games. We know how good the squad is and that we should be winning games like Villa and West Ham, so it's frustrating that we've not put them away and are level with Arsenal instead of 5 points ahead.

Also the best XI hasn't played together yet because of injuries.
