....only 2 teams have won the premiership having lost at least 2 league games by 3 goals or more;

United 99/00 lost 3 games in total, 2 of them by 3 or more goals

United 96/97 - lost 5 games in total, 2 of them by 3 goals or more.

History would suggest that we won't win the league this year.

Had another team capitalised on our recent stutter I'd be inclined to agree, but looking at the table there's reason for optimism.
That said I'm not as confident of us winning it now as I was in the Summer. There's no reason for us not to be in the mix though.

These stats are the kinda shite that Sky come out with - No Manchester City player has scored a goal from Row Z wearing a bowler hat, so I'm waiting for an Inside City episode where the bowler hats are given out at the beginning of training on a Thursday for Pellers to give us the lowdown on his Friday press conference.

Why is it shite?

The usual guff - Crystal Palace haven't won a game at Raith Rovers, Blackburn haven't lost a game at Burnley if they've scored first! Nothing can be extrapolated from them. It means little. Vinny and Mangala could have the worst scoreline of any pairing next game. Football is a game of ten thousand variables and what happened last time, the last ten times, the last ten seasons, is irrelevant to what MIGHT happen in the next game, the next ten games, etc.

Such stats are completely irrelevant. Whether Pellers understands that a midfield two of Yaya plus one other and a central defensive partnership of Demi and Mangala won't work is however critical to our success this season or not

So what you are saying is that to lose by 3 goal margins in the space of 7 games to 2 sides who are not likely to be title challengers has no bearing on our capability to be a title winning team ourselves?

You are also saying that 20 years evidence that title winning teams rarely experience that type of crushing defeat has no message in it?

After the 6-1 the rags were written off mostly based on that result, and yet they came pretty close to winning the league. Individual results don't matter as much as you'd have us believe. Fair play, if we get twatted another 4 times then I'll agree.

Another amazing stat is that every single team that has won the league has scored more goals and accumulated more points than anybody else in the league.
-Stefano penkino, the amazing man, 2014.

Really shall we all just stay at home now until next season.
Ya cheery old sole that's you off the xmas card list chabba.

West Germany got beat 8-2 by Hungary in the word cup but came back from 2-0 down in he final to win 3-2.

Chelsea got beat 4-2 by Bradford but still won the league last season.

It is better to lose by 3 goals twice then lose by 1 goal 3 time, so means nothing.

So had City lost by a single goal to Spurs and Liverpool your reflection on those games, our performance, our defensive capablities, our resilience, our tactics etc would remain identical to the 3 goal defeats we actually experienced?
