Did I miss this? Did the club miss this? I haven't seen anything on here or on Twitter. Surprised it's gone under the radar, absolute legend for us when we were shit - 296 league apps and 352 in total. You were never sure if he was going to score an own goal or get sent off however you were always sure he would give 100% on that pitch. Remember Villa away when the away end were chanting his name and then towers up and blasts a header past us? Didn't celebrate though.

Richard Dunne is a nailed-on Premier League legend.

Over 500 games for Everton, Man City, Aston Villa and QPR.

...

So it’s particularly sad that Dunne retired last night… and nobody noticed.
He wrote a column in the programme ahead of Ireland’s match with Bosnia.

He writes: “It’s just life. I don’t play for a team at the moment and don’t have any plans in the future to do it – it’s just the way it is.

You get all your news from Bluemoon and Twitter??

But yes - very sad way to finish.

City news, I tend to, yeah. I certainly don't visit websites such as 'Dream Team FC'. Not sure where you get your football news from, but I don't trust the shite fro the major tabloids in this country.

Now I think of it, I just use Bluemoon!! Haven't read a paper for sports news in years.

Best thing for it. There's a handful of decent journalists on Twitter but it all gets posted on here in the end. I definitely don't read the sports pages, the transfers are all fiction and the match reports are mostly pieced together via MOTD highlights! Absolute garbage published in this country, they care more about the sales than the content. They'll often pander to the masses than write decent stuff (see the stuff regarding United transfer targets, etc).

To be honest I thought he had retired awhile back, was aware he had no club.

City should be all over this in respect of Dunney, he was a solid performer for us at the back and deserves recognition for his contributions.

I'm not gonna say he's better than whoever we have these days but his character and commitment certainly wouldn't go amiss in our dressing room these days.

He's not here
He's not there
He's isn't any fucking where

Own goals apart a great City character

Last time I bought a tabloid paper was when the sun had a massive headline saying all our players had been given gold watches from Sheikh Mansour and then a few days later printed a tiny retraction.
Never ever bought a newspaper since.

Some great goals, shame about which net they went into but hey we are splitting hairs here :-D

Enjoy it Mr Dunne, you were one of the few shinin... flickering lights in an otherwise dark time.

Crap player, never rated him, even in our bad times - too much of a liability.

I agree he gave his everything.... but, that is nothing less than I would expect. Anyone that has the chance to play professional football, probably like most on here, would surely bust a gut for the privilege, wouldn't they? I know he popular, but he wasn't good.

Still I wish him a happy retirement.

Dunnaldo was the epitome of City at the time. He'd have a top striker in his pocket one week then score an OG off his arse the next.

A City legend in my eyes.
